XBLA Challenge
Small Arms portion of the XBLA Challenge has been delayed.
Poking around the XBox.com forums, I stumbled upon this post from Major Nelson:
For all the players who have registered for and are competing in the Global Arcade Challenge, there is an update on the Small Arms competition. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, the Small Arms TruSkill Rankings Leaderboard was not wiped on 12/24 at 12:01AM GMT. To ensure all players have a level playing field, we are moving the competition to early January. We are in the process of working out the details and will post them later this week. When the new date is posted, all you have to do is play; all registrations will continue to be valid. Thanks you for your participation in the Arcade Challenge and hope you are having a happy holidays!
Considering how badly I had my rear end handed to me on Christmas day in this game, I'm not all that disappointed.

MS announces "Xbox Live Arcade Challenge" [UPDATED]
Microsoft has just announced a new promotion they will be running this holiday season, called Xbox Live Arcade Challenge. Players will compete for prizes ranging from MS points to a Plasma HDTV.
While I'm certainly not going to be wining any prizes in Lumines, I will certainly be brushing up on my Small Arms skills for Dec.24th. Anyone here think they'll be able to place high enough to win a prize?
Note that it is unclear if this promotion is available outside of the United States.Here are the details (found here):
To win, you have to register. Registration starts on December 11, 2006 and ends 22 December, 2006. You only have to register once and you are covered for both games. Once you are registered, start competing since you have two chances to win. Compete in both challenges or just one. It is your choice.
