I like that some acheivements are really hard to get. If I can get 70% of the acheivments in the game by playing through one time in single player, I'm pretty happy.

It's a little different for mulitplayer, and i don't know how i feel about that yet.

But I don't think that every game should have nothing but basic, easy-to-get, or easy to boost to get, acheivements.

I totally agree. I like to be rewarded early and then have the achievements get progressively more obtuse or difficult. But just fragging and fragging is really just a matter of how much time you wanna put into the game...gamers of any skill can get those achievements it's just a matter of time.

I figure that a single-player focused game should provide 50%+ of the achievements when you go though the game once. For multiplayer, designers just need to be more creative. Don't just make it about sheer numbers. Consider, for instance, how the medals changed the Halo 2 multiplayer experience. Think along those lines to create multiplayer achievements.
