How Microsoft give permit to SEGA release XBLA games without custom soundtracks?
Its a very big downgrade of XBLA service. I assume we can expect more games without this option in the future...
For me, no more Sega titles or any game in XBLA without this feature.

And those wondering, "Is Sega That Lazy? Is only a XBLA game after all".

I think it is...cos thats where the custom soundtrack feature is more important, in the retro titles! Because sometimes the music in those games are very annoying... The big picture here is this; if Sega can do it, anyone can do it. Then, a advantage of the Xbox 360 over Wii and PS3 will end.
Soon, it will be like the good ol´Xbox V1; just a few games with custom soundtrack avaible.
We have to keep in mind that all Sega Vintage Collection came with this problem. Therefore, all future games of this series will be like this.

And wont be cool if we can download some remix in the OC Remix community and play this games with some fresh flavor?

Wow. You know, I didn't realize that all the XBLA games did *not* support custome soundtracks. I thought that was a certification requirement. Guess I don't try it that often.

I thought that custom soundtracks were required but that game designers could choose "cinematic moments" to cut into your soundtrack to score a cutscene or some such moment. But then straight back the custom soundtrack.

Obviously, some games would be harder to play without the soundtrack (like Lumines for example) but I can't imagine another reason to disable this feature.

Which games don't have this?

As far I know, only the Sega Vintage Collection... is not like it dont have custom soundtrack option, but if you do it, all sound fx are gone. Is like turning on the stereo while playing. Pretty stupid!

The sound effects are gone?!? That's horrible. The sound effect layer and the background music layer should be seperate. Wow, I had no idea. Very disappointing.

That's really odd. But would you really want to play custom soundtracks instead of hearing Sonic The Hedgehogs funky tunes?

I'm just messing, though. I do think it's a really stupid ommision. It would bug the hell out of me because I listen to podcasts, and radio shows (Howard Stern for instence) through my 360 while playing games, and not being able to keep listening while playing Sega Collection games would get on my nerves. I feel your pain.

I agree with you, the Sonic 2 has a great soundtrack... and I like it, cos to be honest, I am a freaky-old school fan. I love Sega Genesis and Super NES games and contemporaries... but really pisses me off when I find out the problems with this Sega Vintage Collection. And I just remember...thats not all!

You know, back in the 90`s, Sonic 2 has 8 meg, and so has Ecco The Dolphin. But, for some weird reason, now they have 27 and 67!? WTF? And to get matters worse, Fatal Fury Special at the same time has 150 meg, and now has 26!? All this for the Sega Vintage Collection menu?? Important to say, all this games came out in 1992/1993...

Want to know something more weird? Ecco has 2 versions, one in the Genesis, other one in the Sega-CD. The Sega CD version has a awesome soundtrack, opening animation, videos, better sound effects... and if you put this old CD in your PC, the entire disc have 51 megs! If you extract the data and convert the music to MP3, the game will lose around 30 megs... can you see the math of this thing? The Sega Vintage Collection is the Genesis version, not the Sega CD version, by the way!

Well, my 20G HDD will thank a more coherent game size!
