Upcoming Shmups

With the flurry of activity in the past couple of weeks, I lost track of upcoming shmups (perhaps loosely defined in some cases) in the upcoming months. Here's a list. Have I missed any?

  • Ikaruga
  • Undertow
  • Omega Five
  • Every Extend Extra Extreme
  • Triggerheart Exelica
  • Radiant Silvergun (maybe)

Oops, not sure how I could have forgotten Mutant Storm Empire since I've been waiting forever for it.

There's Geo Wars: Waves but that's *only* on the PGR4 disc.

And depending on how loose your definition does get, you could include Battlestar Galactica, Rez HD, and even Undertow.

All in all, a pretty sweet lineup no matter which way you slice it.

As long as we're stretching, I'll throw out Shikigami no Shiro 3, which is a true shmup, but appears to be destined for retail rather than XBLA.

I have its predecessor (Castle Shikigami 2 in the US) and it's awesome. Great for bullet hell fans. It'll probably be a while before #3 is released in the US though (if ever).

Also, does Metal Slug count?

Right now only the new Geometry Wars has my attention.

Does anyone know if Shikigami 3 is going to be retail or XBLA?

Also, any chance of a PAL release? Ubisoft released that G-Rev game over here didn't they, so I might be hopeful that someone would bring it over.

I am glad we're getting some shmup action on here - maybe I can retire my old Jap Saturn one day.

When is Every Extend out, that was meant to be coming out months ago originally.

Pray they don't keep Triggerheart for Japan only.

Rob

Yeah, I hope that anybody besides Ubisoft localizes Shikigami. They completely botched Senko no Ronde and nobody bought it. But better Ubisoft than nobody. It looks really fun.
