Stick To Analog: XBLA Talisman No Time This Year

I hate to be the messenger of sad tidings...so I won't be. I'll let our new favorite corporate mouthpiece (Christian Svensson of Capcom) do the talking for me.

We'll announce a time period soon [for Talisman's release], but to set some expectations, it won't be in this calendar year. The game is coming along but truth be told, it's probably going to be a bit later than we'd originally anticipated.

There you have it. Talisman won't be gracing our consoles for the next couple months. On the plus side, Svensson did say that rule variants will be available including some of Capcom's own devising. Does that temper the bad news a bit?

I guess if you're still upset you might just have to play the (gasp) analog version for the rest of the year.

Hopefully they will take the time to avoid the netcode issues CATAN had; board games shouldn't be that complicated...

I never experienced any netcode problems with Catan, but then again, I never played ranked games. Was it a widespread problem? Now, the achievement problems in Catan, those I can attest to...angrily!
widespread indeed

yeah, the netcode issues in CATAN were widespread and became pretty apparent when one played a lot of ranked games (I never tried any player match ones, so not sure if it applied there too). In probably 20% of the games I played, someone would get dropped during the transition from lobby to the in-game proper, which was disappointing. And other times people would get dumped part way in. I often got messages from people who got dropped saying they didn't quit on purpose.

Most frustrating were the comments once upon a time from BHG's community rep (greypawn) in the xbox.com forums saying they were working on a patch for connection and achievement issues, but then they fell completely silent and nobody has heard from them in months; I presume now no patches or expansions are in the works.

MS needs to tighten up the support expectations for vendors using XBLA.
