how do you feel about $15 games?
i feel like $15 is pushing it...bankshot billiards isn't worth it (i got it for free) and i am worried about future releases. i just bought ridge racer 6 for $20 new and that's a full retail package with a smaller profit margin...sure, i had to wait a while for the price to drop, but that detail isn't gonna matter to the general public. if i see that a new arcade game is coming out for $15...perhaps sometime next spring...and at the same time games like condemned, burnout, and dead rising are all universally priced at $20, how are the xbla people gonna convince the masses to spend $15 on a rather simple game with a simple presentation and limited content when they could just go raid the local bargain bin of some local store that has great retail games for only $5 more? can they make the $15 price point work?
and then factor in some exclusive deals at specific stores...i just picked up tiger woods 2005 new for $3 at kmart and i got timesplitters future perfect for $5 off of overstock.com. when stores start selling certain 360 games at extra low prices, what can the xbla team do to convince us to spend $5 on paperboy when you could spend the same amount and get...oh i don't know...prey or full auto or whatever?
i think they need to rethink their pricing strategy because $5 is too much for retro games and $10 is too much for simple puzzle games that you can play for free online via a pc. i think a 200 - 500 price point would be much more successful for the marketplace. when i see that most people don't buy xbla games other than geometry wars, uno, and street fighter, it shows that they need to think this through.
$15 is fine with me... if the game is good.
I think $5 was too much to pay for frogger, and consequently have not purchased Galaga or Pac-Man. I probably would pay $20 for a pack of 6 retro games, though.... depending on what they were, and how good the Live features were.
While I don't agree with the $5 - $10 games being to expensive (find me one of them legally available on the net for free), I do agree that bankshot should have been less.
On the other hand, can you really blame Naked Sky Entertainment for wanting to charge $15 after paying for an Unreal Engine 3.0 license?
I totally agree here, it entirely depends on the quality of the game. Bankshot Billiards == ripoff. Lumines $15 == just right (if not too cheap). RoboBlitz I'm hoping will be $10 w/ $5 for multiplayer. That way if I don't want multiplayer I don't have to pay $15. The unreal engine does cost a lot though and the game looks amazing. I'ld pay $15 also for like Small Arms because that looks like a solid title.

Come visit me and I'll take you down to an arcade where we can play most of the so-far released retro titles for five cents a pop.
Considering how many times I played frogger, a fair price may be 30 cents.
Seriously, though I 'get it' that I now have the game available forever on my Xbox, but I still think, for frogger, that $5 was too much.
I was not disappointed with my purchases of Joust or Smash TV, however.
