Ikaruga HELP!!!

Ikaruga HELP!!!

ok I'll admit it, I seem to suck at Ikaruga!

I've given it a couple of goes now and always get killed by the boss of the first level. I've figured out that you can switch from black to white, but I have no idea what that does, are there any other weapons?

Also any hints for the game in general or the boss in particular would be greatly appreciated.

if you're black, you can

if you're black, you can absorb the black bullets, if your white you absorb the white ones, as you absorb them, your meter fills which is like your bomb and fires homing beams from your sides

That makes so much more

That makes so much more sense :) How do you fire the homing beams though?

Just tried the demo after

Just tried the demo after reading about this, and was rocking the black/white for a bit, but never made it to the end of the first stage. Guess that's why people that played it on ye olde Dreamcast an Gamecube said it was a hard game.

edit: also, if your white, you do more damage to black ships and vice versa.

also, if you have a flat screen (not plasma!!) and can turn it on its side, you can flip the screen and go full mode for max effect.....

You do know that every xbla

You do know that every xbla game has a "how to play" section in the options? I figured you guys would know this.

There is a tutorial video that explains how polarity, missiles, and chaining work.

You can turn plasma displays and they will function properly...they will look like crap, but that is the limitation of plasma. Plasma displays still have sectional cells as they are not a single buckt poured layer of glowing goo.

Although...a single buckets worth of glowing goo could be a decent sequel to Gish...

The demo played alright, not quite as enjoyable as the DC version, but I think that was due to the DC version taking up full screen and not looking limited. There is a slowdown loading the first boss, but from what I have been told the other slowdowns do not directly affect gameplay.

I have the DC version and I

I have the DC version and I bought the XBLA version, and I'm not sure why you'd say the XBLA version isn't as enjoyable? Granted, I haven't fired up the DC version in quite some time, but I think the XBLA version runs just fine. It looks a lot better to me than the DC version, though I admit it's probably because all I ever had were the standard issue cables for the DC.

Besides, with online co-op (though, it was tough for me to find a match without lag) and leaderboards, I doubt I'll ever go back to the DC version. Oh yeah, and the ability to save and view replays is a godsend. 50 Slots, too. :)
