This Week: Ticket to Ride and Happy Tree Friends

ticketandhappytree Hot off the presses!  This week's pair of games will be Ticket to Ride and Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm.  You would be hard pressed to come up with a more different set of games to pair up for an XBLA Wednesday.

Ticket to Ride (based on the board game of the same name) challenges you to travel the grand U.S. of A. by train and is the E-rated (and thus family friendly).  On the other side, Happy Tree friends is about rescuing your cute cuddly woodland animal friends from almost certain gruesome death.  If you hadn't guessed, it's rated M.

Which will it be my fine gentlemen and ladies -- click-clack click-clack or kaboom?

Press release after the break.

Wow, two interesting

Wow, two interesting games... ticket to ride... I love when these board games hit the service because I can play a ton of multiplayer and explore advanced strategies to kill my real-life friends with. Instead of playing ticket to ride once every year or so, I can play it dozens of times.

Sadly, Settlers of cataan seems to resist any strategy. too much luck.

Happy Tree friends? looks interesting, but I don't know if I have time to play. I'm still working on that destruction game from last week, and GTA 4.

I'm a fan of Ticket to Ride,

I'm a fan of Ticket to Ride, so I'll probably pick that up. It's hard to justify though if you already own the board game version =D

Why is that? I own TTR:

Why is that? I own TTR: Europe, TTR: Switzerland, the computer game and I have the card game on order. I don't have the US version because there is only one strategy in playing it or Marklin because there were several copies owned by members of my game group. Since some of those members moved away or got pregnant, It doesn't come out hardly any more, so maybe its time to get Marklin. There would still be value of purchasing the XBLA version if its an improvement over the computer version and it would encourage more board games to be developed for XBLA.

Besides it looks like it will support the 1910 expansion at some point. That is something not supported by the computer game. It would be neat if they offered alternate maps that you could play with the Europe rules. for instance, a couple years ago, I saw a map of Great Britain posted on the internet.

I don't see why it would.

I don't see why it would. It's only $10, plus you can play it whenever you want, not just whenever your friends are available AND in the mood for it.

I've bought (or been given) Chess at least 15 times over the course of my lifetime, in various different forms and versions (software and board), and I was never even a huge fan of chess (at least until recently).

I'm curious about Happy Tree

I'm curious about Happy Tree Friends, but I think MS is now required to IP-lock all M rated content, so I'm not sure I'll even be able to download it. I'll give it a try tomorrow, though.

Ticket to Ride DLC
