Major franchise released onto XBLA in the next two weeks.
Microsoft has put out a press release about the "bringing it home" event they are doing for TGS & X06. Included in the press release (available here) was the very interesting quote of:
In total, more than 100 pieces of new downloadable content will be available during the nine day period, including a never before announced major franchise on Xbox Live Arcade.
While there has been tonnes of speculation around the net this morning as to what this is, it's interesting to look at the wording. First it looks like this will be the actual release of the game (otherwise this will be the first time that we've seen a preview video on Live for a XBLA title). Secondly it's a "never before announced" title, which rules out Dig Dug (it was announced at E3 this year). What this leads to is the theory that this game will actually be released on the 27th, the first day of X06.
What the title is, is anyone's guess, but considering all the Virtual Console info that came out last week, I'm betting that nobody will be denying the fact that this will be a "major" release.
Doom
I'm calling Doom. (or maybe Doom 2, can I pick both? )
There have been rumors about Doom specifically, and Greg Canessa and/or Ross Erickson have said that they intend to get some "classic FPS" on XBLA.
Doom is a major franchise and has not been officially announced as far as I know.

While I'd be extremely happy with either of those, I'm hoping for something that more closely competes with some of the Virtual Console titles. In a perfect world, I'd love it to be double dragon.

A rare title. Banjo Kazooie or Killer Instinct. Something that does not have Nintendos legal grasp on it which I am not sure about the two listed but that would still be damn sweet.

If it comes out next week then it's X06 and not TGS, so it could be anything.
What happened to today though? Is anything coming out? If the new franchise turns out to be Dig Dug I'm going to laugh. They need to stop raising our expectations with "surprise" announcements.

Since the "actual" show is the 22nd-24th the mystery game will be realeased over the weekend i would assume. Granted I assumed today since the events surrounding it started today.

The press release that this came from was to do with both TGS and X06. Since an XBLA game will have more of an impact here than in Japan, I figured it would come out on the wednessday that starts X06
