Puzzle Chronicles might make you think on XBLA
Infinite Interactive has found itself a new publisher for it's long awaited Death Bringer game, and it now has a new name: Puzzle Chronicles.
You'll be battling in horizontal columns making gameplay completely opposite to Tetris, but with all the RPG/Puzzle goodness you've come to love!
From the developers that brought us the Xbox LIVE Arcade games Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords and the recent Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, comes Puzzle Chronicles (working title). Designed by Infinite Interactive, Puzzle Chronicles is like the previously developed titles carrying the 'puzzle' name. It's another RPG/Puzzle hybrid, but this one is made for Konami. It has a planned release on the PC, XBLA, PSN, DS, and PSP at some point. But, if the past has taught us anything, this new 'puzzle' game will debut WELL after the PC and handheld versions are released.
Aside from that, the game appears to be Puzzle Quest, but jewels drop Tetris-style from the side (left – if the screenshots prove right; confirmation on this might help from actual game players of previous versions – drop a comment). The title features online and offline versus modes and five mini-games.
Puzzle Chronicles, based in the same world as Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, brings a real-time puzzle battle system to the Xbox LIVE Arcade. Unlike Puzzle Quest, which had you play on a rectangular board, you do battle with enemies on what plays like a horizontal mix of Columns and Puzzle Fighter (ie: sideways).
You battle enemies by connecting 3 gems together on your side of the board. Each piece will fall from the left side of the screen and land in the middle. The pieces are three gems in size, with the gems on the top and bottom able to rotate around the one in the middle. Using the various colored gems, skull blocks and other blocks, you must attack the enemy until his stack reaches the top. To help with this you can cause the playing field for him to get smaller, while yours gets larger.
