This Week: QIX++ and A Kingdom for Keflings DLC
Inheriting the style of the renowned arcade title, QIX++ allows you to take up the fight again in a variety of different ways. With customized weapon improvements, a technique-based scoring system, and events triggered by opening Item Containers, the evolution of the series has truly come a long way. The object of the game is to defeat the QIX using the marker. When the total area cut off by the marker reaches a percentage equal to the Threshold, your final attack begins and you have cleared the stage.
“QIX ++” is still mysterious on December 9th at 9 a.m. GMT (2:00 a.m. PDT).
Published and developed by Taito Corporation, “QIX ++” will be available for 800 Microsoft Points everywhere except Australia, India, Korea or New Zealand and is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. For more details on “QIX ++” you can visit: http://www.xbox.com/games/q/qixxbla/
Also this week, in an original approach to a well-loved genre, A Kingdom for Keflings features a large avatar interacting with the Keflings, resources, and buildings of a small village. Resources and Keflings can be converted from one type to another. Buildings can be built and upgraded with a combination of specific resources and specific Kefling types. Buildings in turn make new resources and Kefling types available, unlock new building types, attract more Keflings, and achieve other game goals.
The new DLC for A Kingdom for Keflings on Xbox Live Arcade will consist of two add-ons called Kingdom Pack 1 and Kingdom Pack 2. Each pack will contain 2 new maps and each pack will cost 160 Microsoft Points.

Given that I have tried the demo of QIX++ (pronounced kicks for those who care), and the lack of any media leading up to the release; I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this game is a pass. Perhaps if it had a 400 MSP price tag, I could see adding it to my collection. But I'm sure this will get a few buys from old school fanboys. Just not this one.
On the other hand, NinjaBee's A Kingdom for Keflings downloadable content is well worth the price for each pack. I would have liked to see this update include the accessories (pets, guitars, rc, etc) for your Xbox LIVE Avatar, but I'm not going to complain. I think this is where the points should be spent. At 160 MSP each, your total comes to 320 MSP for both packs. Add the super cool Premium NinjaBee Theme for 240 MSP and you are still only spending 560 Microsoft Points to update a great game!

When this title was announced I tried finding any media about it with no luck. I watched some videos of the original on YouTube and liked what I saw. QIX ++ retains the interesting game mechanic, albeit rather simple, but with the boring graphics and the dull techno loops for music I will be passing on this one. TAITO was definitely aiming too high with the 800 point price.
I am glad to see the new DLC releases for A Kingdom for Keflings but won't be buying these either. The game was addictive but not enough for me to return to the kingdom. Perhaps some new achievements tied to the DLC would have sparked my interest.

AKFK DLC looks sweet but I really whish it added achievements. I just don't see playing the same thing on two new maps.
