After months of build-up and anticipation, W!Games are happy to announce that Greed Corp, their fresh and innovative turn-based strategy game, will be released on February 24th on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft for 800 Microsoft Points.

The first in a series of games based in the rich Mistbound universe, Greed Corp is set in a world of feudal warfare and environmental destruction through industrial consumption. As one of four warring factions your aim is territorial domination, but at what cost? Can you find the delicate balance between harvesting the land for resources and preserving it to stay alive? Will you defend your territory or sacrifice it to keep it out of enemy hands?

Featuring an innovative land collapsing mechanic which constantly alters the strategic landscape, you must destroy your enemies or the very land they stand on before they do it to you. Build Harvesters to reap your land for credits and spend them on armouries and cannons. Manufacture walkers to conquer enemy territory and order carriers to transport your troops across the map. Ultimately, defeat your enemies by eliminating their troops and destroying or capturing their structures.

Now let’s have a look at some of the factions…

THE CARTEL: Their mining technology is state-of-the art. Their corporate philosophy is to relentlessly strip the land of its resources for maximum financial profit, and anyone or anything that stands in the way of that is just collateral damage. They are the Cartel, a shadowy web of corporations, and one of the four factions from the innovative turn-based strategy game Greed Corp from W!Games.

Excelling at pulling everything that is valuable out of the earth, the Cartel are fast, efficient and thoughtless in their single-minded pursuit of profit. Publicly establishing alliances only when it serves their own corporate purpose, their extensive network of spies pursues their true aims unhindered in the background. The Cartel are as trustworthy as jackals.

The unit used to mine the earth’s natural resources is the harvester, and the cartel’s is the best there is. In Greed Corp, the harvester turns land layers and land tiles into spendable credits, but slowly destroys the land itself by doing so. A true tactician, understanding the offensive value of a harvester, can initiate a self-destruct. This can create a strategic advantage, but it will do even more damage to the environment, possibly triggering a chain reaction of collapsing critical tiles.

THE FREEMEN: Their way of life is under threat. They are a peace loving tribe at one with nature who just wants to be left alone. Preservationists in a world ravaged by rampant industrialization, they are the Freemen. They are unique among the four factions of Greed Corp in their anti-industrialization and their harmonious relationship with the land, the Freemen have a tribal structure and are led by individual tribe leaders. The constant fighting over natural resources which are worth nothing in terms of quality of life, and yet worth so much to their enemies, has made them targets. Their land is wanted. The harvesters are coming.

Dragged into a war they do not want in order to defend their land and independence, the Freemen must resort to the same methods as their enemies in order to survive.

Introduced in Greed Corp's 24 map Campaign mode, along with the other three feuding factions known as The Empire, The Pirates and The Cartel, the usually tranquil Freemen are being compressed to leave their rich land. The Freemen know that where there are resources, there is trouble.

Again the Freemen are drawn into conflict to protect their land and way of life. Sometimes there truly can be no peace without war.

THE EMPIRE: Relentless, organized and maintaining balance in the world by force. They are the Empire, the largest of the four factions in terms of population. The Empire is a People’s Republic led by a Supreme Leader and the unchallenged military power in Greed Corp. Forging their cultural and technological advancements on the back of their military might, almost all weaponry produced in the Mistbound world is produced in Empire factories. War is their trade and they excel at it.

Constantly positioning themselves as the ultimate power in the Mistbound universe and vying for overall control of the limited land space, a tense and uneasy relationship exists between the Empire and the other three factions. Quietly and insidiously, they perpetuate a philosophy that all things are part of the Empire, slowly lulling the people and their lands into their grasp. Relentlessly they march on until that objective has been achieved.

THE PIRATES: Not much is known about the elusive Pirates. Some say them to be travelers, merchants, and mercenaries. Either way, they have found a lucrative way to support their decadent lifestyle, effectively trading resources and weapons between the Cartel and the Empire.
