USK unveils Xevious and maybe another Pac-Man game for XBLA

The USK, which is like the ESRB in Germany, has been updated with a few new games specifically Xevious and Pac-Man Championship Edition. First off is Xevious, which I think can obviously be seen is a Xbox Live Arcade retro title. I have included a YouTube video of the NES version of this title below. Remember that the version for XBLA will be an Arcade port. The Pac-Man entry is very interesting though. Looking back into the back catalog it appears that there has never been a Pac-Man Championship Edition released ever. This may point to a completely new title either for Xbox Live Arcade or as a retail product; however, looking at the USK website there is no entry for the Pac-Man that was released last year. Maybe this is just a late posting of that game. Only time will tell on this one.

The worst game ever to come onto Xbox Live Arcade?

This game looks seriously bad. If there's yet another Pac Man I may just stick a fork in my eye and go look at the PS3.

At least their system focuses on original games, which Xbox Live seems to be doing very little of lately. I'm a big fan of old (popular) games, but there really needs to be a counter balance of original games coming out on the arcade because at the moment it's just not happening.

That's the NES version.

That's the NES version. The arcade version's better. Xevious is a very significant game; it was the FIRST vertical scrolling shooter. Sure, Galaxian/Galaga kind of scrolled, having a moving starfield, but this was the first to have a moving landscape.

Yeah, I couldn't find a good

Yeah, I couldn't find a good video of the arcade version of it on YouTube. That's why I mentioned it was from the NES version.

Xevious is a great game.

Would you rather be playing

Would you rather be playing Cash Guns Chaos or Blast Factor right now?

The only interesting things on there are Calling all Cars, Super Rub-o-dub and Lemmings. I never got why they released PS1 games on the service as you could by them used for less (usually).

I for one am glad to see

I for one am glad to see Namco continue to release games for xbla. Now that I think about it, are there any more announced Midway games coming?

Namco makes some of the best

Namco makes some of the best retro titles IMO. Granted they also make some of the worst =D

I've been consistently

I've been consistently unimpressed with Namco's XBLA offerings. They're the definition of "bare-bones." While the Digital Eclipse stuff has enhanced graphics and/or multiplayer, Namco adds jack.
