After much speculation that Marathon: Durandal was destined for E3 but missed the deadline, it is finally arriving. And alongside the alien slayage comes a much more peaceful and family friendly experience in Spyglass Board Games.
Marathon: Durandal comes in at 800 MSP and seeks to challenge Wing Commander: Arena and Bomberman Live! for the XBLA multiplayer crown.
Spyglass Board Games gives you Chess, Checkers, Mancala, and Reversi and features what appears to be the largest Vison Cam window ever. At just 400 MSP this is a total steal.

I've gotta be honest here. All this XBLA goodness is starting to hurt (primarily in the wallet region). I haven't even played games from a couple weeks ago.
Anyone else getting XBLA fatigue? Any remedies you know?

Marathon is a must buy for me, but I am an old Mac gamer. Hopefully Oni will make its way to XBLA as well as the third Marathon. Too be honest while the first Marathon was a good game at the time, but hasn't held up nearly as well. After that all we need is Spectre VR which is basically a game similar to Wing Commander: Arena only with more options, Appletalk and fun from 15 years earlier.
I have been waiting for chess for a while and will most likley pick up Spyglass Games, but it looks to be really bland visually for non camera owners. Even if I had a camera I would n't use it with people I do not know which seems to leave more of the boring background showing. Compared to the versions of Uno (and Backgammon etc) the actual game pieces look like a 3D video card demo from the Voodoo era and not somethign from this century. At least it is only 400 points.

I've been out of the country for the past two weeks, so not only do I have these to pick up but stuff from the previous two as well. And I'm also point deficient at the moment as well.
Oh boy.

Can any long time Marathon fans explain to me what half of the achievements mean? If the non cool number achievements (no 5 or 0) are hard, then I more than likely won't get this game, unless I am in love with it. They seem pretty hardcore, so hopefully I can get an explanation.

For an "HD game" Spyglass sure has a lot of jagged edges and the lack of a real full top down view means you constantly have to shift your viewing angle to see the full board. That makes it rather difficult to plan out chess moves.
The single player mode lets you swap games with the X button, but since multiplayer is locked out in the trial I have no idea if I can choose to only play a specific game or not.
I highly doubt another chess title will ever be released on XBLA however so may have to flip a coin in the morning to decide if I want to risk a poor lobby system which doesn't let me limit searchs/games to just chess (or whatever).

Really sounds like spyglass was made with minimum effort, just to get a video chat going. great.
Anyway... Anybody know if Marathon's matchmaking is anything like Halo 3's matchmaking? Because if it is, it's a must-buy for me... if it's more like Doom... I'll just go play Doom instead.
