This Week: Inferno Pool, Rainbow Islands and discounted Fable II Pub Games

Rainbow Island set for 360 in Xbox LIVE Arcade remake

Xbox 360 owners have another Taito arcade classic to look forward to. The publisher has announced an Xbox 360 version of Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure, to be released domestically (and presumably worldwide as well) on Wednesday, October 28th for the Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

Towering Adventure is a remake of the classic Rainbow Islands game, which has Bubble Bobble series characters Bubby and Bobby building rainbows to climb their way up to the top of a tower. The remake was previously released on the Wii in March. The 360 version promises story mode, challenge mode, and time attack modes, along with a worldwide one-on-one online competitive Xbox Live Match mode. Those who prefer to compete offline will also find a two player local cooperative mode.

Inferno Pool breaks onto Xbox LIVE Arcade next week

Koch Media, a leading producer and distributor of digital entertainment products, and Dark Energy Digital, a British developer and publisher of video games, announced the signing of a licensing agreement for Koch Media to publish and market the game Inferno Pool in North America and Asia. In the United States, Inferno Pool for Xbox LIVE® Arcade will be published and distributed by Deep Silver Inc., a publisher of interactive entertainment software and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Koch Media.

Inferno Pool is a revolutionary new arcade Pool/Billiards game where 1-4 local or online players battle to clear their tables while firing potted balls at opponents. Players can stockpile balls for a later onslaught, nominate their victims, and unleash devastating ball streaks and outrageous skill shots to trigger the punishing Inferno Mode. Alliances will be formed, friends will be betrayed, and the battle isn't over until the stat screen appears. The game also includes classic 8 ball and 9 ball modes for 1-2 players, and the addictive, Inferno-fueled, race against the clock Endurance Mode.

Konami announces the return of Sparkster in Rocket Knight for XBLA

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced the return of one of its most enduring creations, with the announcement of a new downloadable Rocket Knight (working title) for Xbox LIVE Arcade.

The original Rocket Knight was an extremely popular 2D side-scrolling title first released on the 16-bit SEGA Megadrive and later on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and starred a rocket-pack wearing Opossum called Sparkster. Famed for its fast platform-based gameplay and cartoon visuals, Rocket Knight will debut on next generation consoles fifteen years after its inception with updated graphics and alluring new environments.

Halfbrick bones up with Raskulls upcoming XBLA release

Raskulls from Halfbrick Studios Prominent Australian developer Halfbrick has announced its brand new IP for the Xbox LIVE Arcade - Raskulls. Joining the heritage of the most popular XBLA titles such as Braid, Castle Crashers and The Maw, Raskulls is an entirely original and exciting puzzle platformer with a rich single-player campaign and an incredibly addictive online multiplayer component.

The gameplay is a unique blend of platforming, puzzle and racing. With hundreds of blocks arranged in Tetris-style fashion throughout each world, players must use a block-smashing wand to find their way through the level in the most efficient way possible.
