"Small Arms" and "Mutant Storm Empire" announced

Microsoft announced today (via their Power Up Digital Magazine) a new game from Gastronaut Studios called Small Arms. Also released was the fact that they have named Mutant Storm 2 to be "Mutant Storm Empire".

Both games are scheduled to be release Summer 2006 (but who knows when they will actually see the light of day).

PopCap's Heavy Weapon to be shown at E3

It seems that some info is starting to leak out from the pre E3 darkness. According to a press release from PopCap, they are going to be in Microsoft's booth showing of the XBLA version of Heavy Weapon.

PopCap describes the game as:

Heavy Weapon is a classic arcade-style side-scrolling action game in which the player strives to defeat hordes of enemy armies in the form of tanks, jeeps, fighter jets, helicopters and other land- and air-based vehicles. Power-ups that provide additional speed, shields, firepower and other capabilities help the player overcome increasingly nasty enemy forces and bosses while progressing through levels representing the oppressed (fictitious) countries over which the war is being waged. Since launching for Web and PC Play, Heavy Weapon has been downloaded more than 10 million times.

The multiplayer survival game to be included exclusively in Heavy Weapon for Xbox Live Arcade will be on display at the E3 expo. This game mode allows the player to test his/her tactical prowess with up to three friends on a high definition widescreen display. The single player survival game is already a frenzied battle where the player is pitted against inexhaustible enemy forces. In multiplayer mode the action is even more furious, with as many as four sets of cannons blazing and endlessly intensifying waves of enemy forces. The ensuing chaos would make even a battle-hardened Geo Wars veteran sweat! Stop by the booth, grab a controller and get your nuke on.

Uno to be released during E3

That's right folks, it seems we only have to wait another week or so to get our digital card game fix. According to a Press Release reported on Xboxic, mixed in with all that demo and trailer goodness is XBLA's Uno.

Jeff Minter working on XBLA title

It seems that Jeff Minter, the creator of the 360's Music visualizer and the fantastic Tempest series, is working hard on an XBLA title. If you would like to read more about this title as well as look at some of the cool results of his "nice p-system generator to use for the explosions and stuff and initial tests of that being *really* nice" check out his blog here

Video of Street Fighter II surfaces

It seems that the guys from XboxZone.com.au have posted a video of the Street Fighter II presentation made last week in Australia. The link to it is here. If you listen carefully the presenter talks about how it's going to be one of the next three games to be released (We can only guess as to what the others will be, but my guess is two of Uno, Texas Hold'em, and Cloning Clyde). Not the best of quality recordings, but does show us what to expect.

UPDATE: there's also a video of the Cloning Clyde presentation here (Thanks qwerty)

Uno to support XBox 360 Camera

According to this video on Gear Live (check it out soon as I'm sure it'll be taken down any moment now), it looks like Uno will be the first game to support the XBox 360 Camera.

The one disapointing thing that the video shows though is that Texas Hold'em, a game that would have more to gain from it, doesn't support it.

Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting page up on XBox.com

So it seems that MS has finally decided to update there list of XBLA games to include Street Fighter. Currently it's completely devoid of any information, but at least it's another step on the (long) road to it's release.

Interestingly enough, no other game was added, not even Uno

Uno Screenshots and Movie

Xboxyde has some screenshots from the debug version of the live arcade's Uno. Looks good and hopefully it means the game will be released soon.

New Look and new features

So we've finally been able to get our second iteration of the site up and going. It may take a bit for everything to work out perfectly, but we'll get there. As for what we've added, it's mostly new ways for people to stay up to date with the world of XBLArcade. If you check out on the left, you'll see links to import our feed into the most popular feed readers. Also, if RSS just isn't for you, you can have all new posts e-mailed to you by entering in your info on the left.

Hope all goes well and let us know if you run into any issues.
