The use of AI tech in cars can be used to enhance the machine itself and allow for increased safety and performance, but can also be used to manage driver safety and monitoring. This technology can go from trivial enhancements like recognition of drivers to make setting adjustments to the experience like seat position and mirrors, all the way to stopping road traffic accidents. Using AI technology to create a monitoring system for drivers would mean the constant checking of the drivers current condition and allow for prevention of drowsiness from tiredness or breaking of laws by going over drink driving limits. Theoretically, this could save countless lives who are subject to brutal road traffic accidents both at the hands of their own misfortune or others. The power of AI allows it to constantly monitor data points and alert the human to issues or necessary preemptive changes necessary such as bulb changes or oil renewal. The data grabbed by the AI involved in the car can also be used by the cloud services and applied to personalised marketing, which in turn allows for focused advertising for individuals. The use of cloud services which combine artificial intelligence and cars can also be huge when it comes to road tax, car insurance and risk assessment. The pure raw data that AI works with means that it can utilise data to work out risks such as a recent divorce or current health issues beyond historic accident claims, allowing insurance companies to create much more specific insurance for the driver and levelling the playing field to individual levels rather than groups. There is also increasing potential for auto-claims from the individual and a much more rapid process for insurance claims that take out the hassle of the process for many through AI apps. 

Driverless Cars

Perhaps the most fearful and technophobic stance against artificial intelligence and cars is the planned widespread creation of driverless cars. Following in the footsteps of other automotive vehicles, such as planes, trains and boats which have all had these technologies for years, the car industry is increasingly swaying towards this idea for the individual. Whilst it has historically proved very difficult due to the sheer mass of algorithms that would need to be involved, AI automated cars are only just starting to become a thing. But rest assured this will be the future of cars with Google and Tesla currently leading the field in autonomous self-driving cars. This could mean anything from less crashes due to bad driving, to automate delivery services or long-haul lorry drivers auto-piloting.

The advancement of the technology in the vehicle industry goes further than solely artificial intelligence and cars. Indeed, the use of auto-drive systems in underground tubes and planes has been around for decades. When it comes to the other vehicles and their relationship with this advancement in tech, there are numerous other advantages, on a more commercial scale which can be addressed to see what the future may look like and how AI will impact the taxi industry

Increasingly, companies are looking to streamline their service and the automation of vehicles means they can cut costs, look at lowering the chance of errors and generally increase efficiency, which has led to many looking to switch to self-driving vehicles. This can be the underground tubes around the world or AI steering, intelligent shipping on commercial shipping vessels. The use of AI can create the fastest route, improve logistics and minimise human error.


Automation within the manufacturing of vehicles has been present for decades, but the use of AI increases their role a step further. The implementation of AI during manufacturing can enhance quality control by monitoring defects, help human workers avoid injury or rapidly increase the production line through efficiency. 


Planes have been a haven for AI improvements and commercial expansion of the technology. Artificial intelligence and cars is becoming the next big thing, but it has been present in the aviation industry for decades. Auto-pilot is one of the earliest forms of AI and at this point planes could operate themselves really. But AI is continually improving the experience for those in aviation, allowing for reduced pilot workload and fatigue, improving time performance and assisting in Air Traffic Controller and MCAS (Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation Systems). This all works towards improving aircrafts behaviours, allows better response to changing conditions and means that the massive data load available to the AI can be used more effectively in allowing for safer and much more effective aviation. The ultimate goal here would be a commercial move towards the use of fully autonomous UAV and drone aircrafts currently in the military. 


Whilst AI and the vehicle industry still has a long way to come before being fully operational and effective it is certainly moving in the correct direction. Indeed, artificial intelligence and cars are a clear example of how AI is not only going to take over life in the vehicle industry but also, seemingly, a great deal of other facets in life. While this may scare some, it offers solid solutions to problems that have been problematic for humans for years, so surely there is merit in this technological advancement? I guess we will find out just how popular AI is going to continue to be.
