Nintendo's "Virtual Console"

Is it just me, or does Nintendo's virtual console sound like the "Nightmare" scenario for Xbox Live Arcade? As in, nothing but classic realeases, all the time, every time.

Sure XBLA has been somewhat disappointing lately, but at least it's had breakouts like "Cloning Clyde" which show that innovation will be a large part of the future of the platform.

Anybody heard news of anything original hitting Nintendo's Virtual Console?

I don't know if I'd call it a Nightmare, but more of a huge missed opportunity. All they really had to do was add online multiplayer to their games. Mario Kart with online multiplayer would have been a killer app and would have left most XBLA titles in the dust.

As for new titles, the only one that I've heard of is Butterfly garden, which will be making it's way to XBLA as well.

Virtual console is the name of the Wii's classic d/l service there is a different name for the new games one. I remember reading about it maybe 3 weeks ago I can't remember where though.
