Uno
XBLA Wednesdays continue with PGR3 and poker for free
OK I promise that will be the first and last rhyming headline.
Microsoft announced yesterday some new details about the future of XBLA Wednesdays including:
- Texas Hold-em will be released Aug. 23 and will be free for the first 48 hours.
- 4 Cloning Clyde picture packs @ 100 points each are available today.
- A PGR3 themed deck for UNO will be available later today for 100 points.
- Time Pilot will be available August 30th for 400 points.
- Scramble will be available September 6th for 400 pointsMajor.
Nelson later updated the free poker info with this:
Just to be clear, anyone who downloads this game during the free period, will get the full un-locked version of the game to play. There will be no time out on the version (in other words...you can play as long as you want..whenever you want) as long as you download it during the first 48-hours. After the free period is over, then it's Arcade business as usual - there will be a demo, and the option to purchase the full game.
I don't know about you, but I'm interested to see what gameplay changes the PGR3 Deck will bring as Microsoft has stated in the past that there won't be any UNO Decks that are just a rebranding, that all decks will bring gameplay changes in line with the theme itself. Don't know how you would play racing UNO or Kudos UNO, but for 100 points, I'm willing to try.
UPDATE: it seems that Microsoft has removed all references to the UNO PG3 Theme pack, guess were not getting it today.
Uno Match-making woes solved?
It seems that along with Frogger being set loose, MS quietly released the long awaited patch to fix the match-making issues they've been having with Uno. When asked about the update on various forums this morning, Richard Thames Rowan, UNO Program Manager at Carbonated Games, had the following to say:
Yes, this update fixed the multiplayer matchmaking (both Quick Match and Ranked Match), along with another of other bugs, including better theme deck support (which is invisible until new theme decks are released).
When searching around for information about the fix, we also found that Richard has been working on two new theme decks since as early as Late May. Here is hoping that we get to see some new themes soon.
Uno patch on the way
While no specific date was released, Richard Thames Rowan, UNO Program Manager said:
"The UNO development team is aware of the problem that some people are having with matchmaking and has a fix going through certification right now. Hopefully, youβll see this roll out soon, so no need to email anyone."
I know personally I've had this issue and it's great that it's being fixed, now maybe I can get those last two achievements. :)

XBox Live Vision spotted ... in Uno!
One of the moderators over at CheapAss Gamers, was playing Uno when one of the beta testers for MS new camera joined his game, the mod was able to grab his camera and grab a short clip for all to see. While it's not the most exciting use for Vision, it's great to see that it works.
You can check his post out here.
Uno is up on the Marketplace
As promised, Uno is now available for download on the marketplace. There's no official site for it yet on Xbox.com, but as long as it's available for everyone, who cares :)
BTW I'm sure there will be tonnes more info coming out of the MS press conference, so stay tuned.
It's official Uno out tomorrow
As mentioned earlier, we will be finally getting to enjoy some card playing fun when Uno is released on Tuesday May 9th. The bad news is that this seems to be the only XBLA game that is coming out during E3. Let's hope that they release a couple surprises along the way.
Here is the enitre E3 List
Uno to be released during E3
That's right folks, it seems we only have to wait another week or so to get our digital card game fix. According to a Press Release reported on Xboxic, mixed in with all that demo and trailer goodness is XBLA's Uno.
Check out the complete list here
Uno to support XBox 360 Camera
According to this video on Gear Live (check it out soon as I'm sure it'll be taken down any moment now), it looks like Uno will be the first game to support the XBox 360 Camera.
The one disapointing thing that the video shows though is that Texas Hold'em, a game that would have more to gain from it, doesn't support it.
Uno Screenshots and Movie
Xboxyde has some screenshots from the debug version of the live arcade's Uno. Looks good and hopefully it means the game will be released soon.

Rumor Roundup
Here is the first of the new (hopefully) weekly features, there will be more features coming down the pipe, but all in good time. Anyways, here is this weeks rumor roundup…
Uno to be developed by Silver Creek Entertainment.
Rumor: When the announcement came out that one of the next games to be released came out of the blue, the rumor mill started turning about who the developer could be. Many sites (this one included) figured that it would have to be the only dev to release any card games to date, Silver Creek Entertainment.
Our Take: We were wrong. According to this post here, Silver Creek has nothing to do with Uno, so were still left guessing as to who itβll be.
No Rare owned properties will be on the Revolution Virtual Console
Rumor: None of Rareβs IP, including Goldeneye and Killer Instinct will be making itβs way to big “N”s virtual console.
Our Take: Did anyone actually think that this would ever happen? The real question is which of them will make there way to XBLA?
