27 Worms HD screen shots to drool over.
Xbox-attitude has just posted 27 great looking screen shots of the upcoming Team17 title Worms HD. With the polish that these shots are showing, it's looking like we'll be definitely seeing these squirmy little buggers soon.
Check them out here (mind the French)
Small Arms portion of the XBLA Challenge has been delayed.
Poking around the XBox.com forums, I stumbled upon this post from Major Nelson:
For all the players who have registered for and are competing in the Global Arcade Challenge, there is an update on the Small Arms competition. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, the Small Arms TruSkill Rankings Leaderboard was not wiped on 12/24 at 12:01AM GMT. To ensure all players have a level playing field, we are moving the competition to early January. We are in the process of working out the details and will post them later this week. When the new date is posted, all you have to do is play; all registrations will continue to be valid. Thanks you for your participation in the Arcade Challenge and hope you are having a happy holidays!
Considering how badly I had my rear end handed to me on Christmas day in this game, I'm not all that disappointed.

New Rally-X is this weeks XBLA title
After three weeks of putting out indie titles, Microsoft has gone back to the retro-well and brought us New Rally-X. At the regular 400 points, the title should be able to get some decent sales against all the retail Christmas presents people are currently playing.
Being the last Wednesday of the month, it looks like those promises of Castle Crashers in '06 are all for not, here's hoping that we see it soon.
Worms to be released "Hot on the heels" of CES?
Our forum member qwerty tipped us off to go check out the team17 forums for a bunch of new info about the upcome XBLA title Worms HD.
The biggest bit of news is that the title has hit Partner Net (Microsoft's Dev system for live) and is down to it's last bug. According to this post, with a little bit of luck, we'll be able to play the game sometime after it's official announcement at next months CES.
Other tidbits of info from the forums:
Due to the 50MB limit, we'll be getting a full version of the game, but it sounds like they are already working on DLC for the title, with some slated to be free and some to be premium.
While this one is certainly not perfectly clear, I'd be willing to bet the the final price is going to be 800 points as we all know this isn't a 400 point title and comments from team17 that it will come in at a good price when compared to other titles.
It seems that this version of Worms will be a bit different from any of the others before it, as it has been made with the ability to let the title to be far more "pick up and play". I'm not quite sure if this is a completly good thing yet.
I'll certainly be buying this title when it arrives.
Marble Blast Ultra update DOA?
The Map Pack for MBU that was rumoured to be finished and in the hands of Microsoft more than a month ago seems to be no more.
Pat Willson, one of the developers for Marble Blast Ultra, has just posted on his blog (the fitting angrydev.com) that due to the fact that "...we are unable to come to an agreement with our publisher for the Marble Blast Ultra update." the update is dead.
The interesting thing is that according to the xbox.com MBU page, Garage Games is both the developer and the publisher, so I can only imagine that the publisher in question is Microsoft themselves.
It's a shame to see so much hard work go down the drain, as well as the revitalization that this update would have meant for the game. Hopefully the two parties will get this resolved and we will get the update, but at this point, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Gamespot's Best and Worst 2006 winners announced
While Gamespot announcing the winners of their "Best and Worst 2006" awards wouldn't normally show up on our site, this time their is a reason for it to do so.
Within the Genre awards was a very interesting winner. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 has won their Fighting game of the year award. While I'm a big fan of this XBLA title, and admittedly not a huge fighting game fan, is this really the best their was this year?
Congrats to Midway and Digital Eclipse on the win!

Contra Co-op Updated
Xbox 360 Fanboy has posted that the Co-op portion of Contra has received the auto-update treatment. While it removes the ability to continue over online Co-op, it will certainly come as a nice suprise for those of us who have been having issues with the disconnect between players.
You can read about it here.
Novadrome crashes onto XBLA
Gamerscore blog has just announced that this week's XBLA Wednesdays' release will be Novadrome. We've been looking forward to this game since we first started reporting about it back in February. While this game was initially scheduled for a spring 2006 release, we'll happily take it now.
Sporting "15 arenas, supports 8 players, has 20 vehicles, several game modes (career, arcade, multiplayer, and free play)" and coming in at 800 points, this game has the potential of being the next big thing.
Maybe we should set up a little online play Wednesday night, who's in?

House Cleaning Notes
So I've finally closed off a couple of bugs throughout the site, they include:
- There was a divide by zero bug that occurred if someone posted the same day as they signed up and then someone looked at their profile.
- Search wasn't working correctly
- My User name has always been set to the default administrator instead of my gamertag of Tomacco

Obviously I don't have time to do a full write up as I seem to be slipping lower and lower on the list and need to get back to putting up the points.
