E3 Predictions
With the big presentation coming tonight I figured it'd be interesting to see what everyone's predictions for tonight are.
Here are mine:
* Marathon is tomorrow's release
* Mega man being redone (ala Street Fighter) and coming to both XBLA and PSN
* At least 10 games we've never heard of as being on XBLA (with 3+ being from PopCap)
What do you guys think?
Here are mine.
- Live Anywhere takes center stage. This is obviously aided by the whole Vista push, but I believe cross-platform purchases and games for XBLA (and whatever they call it on the PC side) will be talked about a lot. I'm hoping for specifics and roll-out timeframes (I want one purchase to get my XBLA games on my 360 and PC too!).
- Major episodic content news. I'm thinking something like Sam & Max coming in an episodic model through Xbox Live. (I doubt it would actually be Sam & Max though.) They may rebrand it or they may just throw it under the XBLA umbrella.
- We finally get details on HoopWorld, Mutant Storm Empire, Talisman, and other games that have disappeared for a while. Maybe this one is just my own personal wishful thinking.
Marathon seems like a totally credible idea. And do you know something about Mega Man I don't...that reeks of insider information, I cry foul! LOL.
PopCap games are assured (isn't that where Greg Canessa went?), as are Sierra Online games (which we already know about) since Ross Erickson is over there.

Here are my predictions:
Bomberman (maybe with another game or to) will be released tommorow
6-25 new games are revealed
Tetris will be confirmed for Arcade
A really big game will be announced for XBLA
We will see more of games we haven't seen for a while, like Hoopworld, Cyberball, Fatal Fury, etc.
I'm going to make a semi-possible prediction that Konami is going to attempt to recreate their success with TMNT and talk to Activision and consider putting 6-player X-Men on XBLA.
That more of a hope, but one worth considering. Sure, it would be better to go along a major project related to the X-Men (a potential X4, the solo Wolverine flick, even Endangered Species for the comics, for all I care), but people have been asking for it for MONTHS, if not YEARS.
-The leaked photos of the grey 360 turn out to be a cheaper model optimized for IPTV and non-gamers in general.
-Katamari confirmed as XBLA exclusive
-Back catalog of an entire console confirmed in pipeline for XBLA, such as, say, Sega Genisis.
I give myself a 70 percent chance of one of these happening.

On that note I wouldn't be suprised to see the Simpsons arcade game be announced.
I don't know. I honestly don't see it as being that big for XBLA this year, maybe I'll be proved wrong but who knows.
I definately think at tonight's conference they'll announce tomorrow's game and it'll be HUGE and probably never before heard of. Something along the lines of Marathon or maybe Bomberman.
A buddy of mine found a quote on another gaming forum that says tonight is going to be a very good night for the arcade. The source is credited as one of the XBLA developers. Take with a heaping grain of salt.
I think the Marathon thing will be the big announcement for tomorrow. Maybe even a special midnight (PST) release. However, I'm semi leaning towards it coming out that Marathon will be included in the deluxe Halo 3 release as a "Thank you" to bungie fans.
I think we'll see announcement from three major players: Capcom, Namco, and Sega. We all know Sega is sitting on something. With Capcom's focus on downloadable titles, I wouldn't be surprised if they get Digital Eclipse to dump their entire "Capcom Classics Vol. 1 and 2" online (Final Fight and Chiki Chiki Boys please). I wouldn't be surprised if Namco worms out a couple more classic releases, but announces Soul Edge to be released along side Soul Calibur IV. Maybe even do the same for Ace Combat and Ace Combat 6 (Helping to justify the price tag for the controller).
