To kick this forum off I figured I'd set up a informal poll, let's hear your picks for the following categories:

1) Favorite Retro Title

2) Retro title you were most disappointed in

3) The title that everyone else hates, but you love

My answers are:

1) Street Fighter - even though I'm horrible at it

2) Contra - I loved this game as a kid, was it really this bad

3) Crystal Quest - I remember playing it on the Mac as a kid. Didn't translate perfectly to a controller, but still loads of fun.

Here's my list:

1) Robotron: 2084. I used to play this game obsessively on my Atari Lynx. Yes. I had an Atari Lynx...the original gargantuan style one. Good times.

2) New Rally X. I know it's retro...but my eyes were bleeding for a week after the trial.

3) Time Pilot. Got addicted on my GBA with a collection cart. Now I'm just pissed I can't get that last achievement!

1) TMNT Arcade - I used to love playing this game in the arcade and the NES version just never compared.

2) Wow this one is tough (I luv teh retro)... I'm gonna say Frogger (online has slowdown why again?)

3) Root Beer Tapper - I honestly don't know why but I very much enjoyed playing this game

I'll toss in "Game I would most like to see get the Pac-Man CE treatement":

Smash TV

1. Robotron 2084 - I had never played this before, but it's awesome. In some subtle ways I think it's actually still better than any of the more recent games to build on its formula

2. Paperboy - Not really "disappointed" by any retro games since I have low expectations of them, but Paperboy is the only game on XBLA that I can't find a way to have fun with

3. None - Sorry...

1) Favorite Retro Title

That’s a hard one, I’ll have to go with smash TV, as it is my most played game on the 360 even thou I don't play it much anymore since the glitch was found

2) Retro title you were most disappointed in

Another hard one most stay true to the old version but joust just don't do much for me

3) The title that everyone else hates, but you love

Scramble. I love this game but no one every plays it

1) Heavy Weapon

-This game should be more advertised. I found this accidentally when searching new games to buy for XBLA.

2) Geometry Wars

-This has just impossible achievements.

3 Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

-I like this very much and it's popular but my friends hate it and wonder why I ever bought it.

They're just now realizing how to advertise new arcade games in general, so it's no surprise that you just stumbled upon Heavy Weapon.

The Geo Wars achievements aren't impossible, though they *do* seem that way when you start. If you want to get them though you have to practice and you have to watch some videos online to get some strategies from the masters. My high score is 3.8 million something and I've only ONCE survived 1,000,000 points. So, not impossible, just truly hardcore.

I also think that the achievements are actually really well paced in terms of skill level because typically people plateau at around 250,000, 500,000, and then 1,000,000. Only with more practice and better strategies can you get from one plateau to the next. And it does take some time. But it's possible. (^_^)
