Hey guys

So, after the long wait for Rez, what do we think? I think it's a cool and fun, but in 'Play' mode I can't get off the first level yet! Is it me or is the one life system a bit mean? Is there any kind of extend as I get to that bit where the missiles start firing at you, get hit, get turned into a beachball, then by the time I get to the boss I usually get hit again and it's Game Over. :-(

Once you're turned into a ball can you become human again? The tutorial is a bit pants to say the least. Also what fills up the Overdrive bar, seems quite random?

you can "improve" you character by collecting power-ups that will fill a bar at the down-left corner of the hud.

there are 2 kinds of power-ups:

Red - will give you the Rez equivalent of bombs, you can have a max of 4 of these
Blue - there are 2 kinds of blue power-ups: the round ones and the angular ones:
. round blue - give you 3 powerups
. angular blue - give you 1 powerup
when you get 8 blue powerups you upgrade, thus getting one extra life.

besides the human and ball shapes there are 4 more versions of your character, which means you can have a max of 5 lives

Getting the hang of the evolution thing now, making sure I target the blue powerups but I still can't defeat the first boss. Takes long enough to get there, then it's all over and I have to do all ten layers again just to have another go at the boss. Any tips for the boss?

from my experience:

. when he's in a ball destroy the ball as fast as you can, but destroy it completely, taking extra care for any missiles he fires
. once you see the actual boss focus your shots on him
. when he has the tentacles or throws missiles at you destroy them as fast as you can and focus again on the bright dots on the boss

Use bombs (press B) anytime you see fit

To me the hardest boss was the 3rd one, I haven't faced the 5th yet, but from the other levels, the 3rd was the most difficult.

the 3rd boss is the most difficult until you get the timing down, then he really isn't all that hard. I like the fact that you have to face versions of all the boss's near the end of the 5th level before you actually get to the final boss. Awesome game and prolly the best XBLA title I have ever picked up.
