Lumines Live, was one of the biggest surprises announced for Xbox Live Arcade during E3. Greg Canessa, the Xbox Live Arcade Group Manager, already had a "release date" of Summer 2006 for the unique puzzler at the time.. and a price which would be 1200 Microsoft Points($15). Of course, there will be extra content to download from the Xbox Live Marketplace, such as licensed music and backgrounds. But, will we have to pay extra for a multiplayer add-on as well? Maybe.
Game Informer interviewed Tetsuya Mizuguchi, in which he said that we may have to purchase the 'Multiplayer expansion' on top of the basic game. "At least that's the way we have it planned right now," Mizuguchi said. It is still being determined whether or not the basic package will include Multiplayer, however.
A bit bold, risky if you ask me. It could turn out to be another 'Oblivion Horse Armor', not good.

Keep in mind lunines came out on psp for $40
yeah, but it was overpriced to begin with. regardless of how good it is, it's still just a simple puzzle game. and on top of that, that $40 got you a physical copy of the game with packaging and an instruction booklet which leads to manufacturing and transportation expenses...and none of this applies to lumines live.
they really need to step back and understand what people like about XBLA: simple little games that you can purchase without leaving the couch and are easy on the wallet. if games start to regularly cost $15 to $20, i think just about everyone would rather just buy a bargain retail game (or two).
the 360 is still young, but after a little more time passes and you can regularly go to any retail store and choose from a wide range of $20 360 disc-based games that offer hours and hours of entertainment with amazing graphics and high production values, it's gonna be hard to convince the majority of gamers to spend about the same amount of money on a puzzle game that shows corny music videos in the background.
I own the PSP version, it's the only reason I pick up my PSP anymore. Now, I did take into consideration that the PSP game cost $40 awhile back, but the fact of the matter is... is that they can easily add Multiplayer into the 'basic package', I doubt that "Lumines" w/ multiplayer is anywhere near 50 GB.
A bit of greed? I mean, they are already charging for licensed music, and backgrounds, of course. I agree with Trent82, one of the main things that got me interested in the Xbox LIve Arcade was it's price point. Smash TV for 400 Points, Geometry Wars for 400 Points, and etc.. I would hate to go to the Arcade blade, and find "Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - 1600 Points".
