Apparently, XBLA's "Hot August" has left a little fire damage on Microsoft's stock of old XBLA games. The big M has announced that they will be offering special Labor Day weekend XBLA deals (at least for four XBLA games). Small Arms, Gauntlet, Zuma, and DIG DUG will all be half price from 5 p.m. PDT on Saturday through 4:49 p.m. on Monday.
For those of you keeping score that means the previously 800 MSP priced Small Arms and Zuma will be only 400 MSP and Gauntlet and DIG DUG will be available for the ludicrous price of only 200 MSP.
Apparently, if we tell David Edery what we want, we might just get it.
And this is the weekend I choose to travel. Damn.
Who is going shopping?

I'm usually against buying classic games because I usually don't think they're worth the $5 price given. This weekend I'll be making an exception for Dig Dig and Gauntlet. I already own Small Arms, so that's not something that can be fixed, now Zuma is a big question mark for me.
Anyway, I think this is a great idea MS is doing, and I think they should consider doing it more often. Not like weekly, or anything, but maybe make this a two/three time a year event to kind of make people pay attention to the XBLA more (maybe we can get some of that 30% who doesn't know of the XBLA to know of it).
Next week's top 10 chart should be interesting, if this goes well.

Hmm... Zuma, purchased when there was very little content on XBLA, and no new releases for months at a time.
Small Arms... purchased before i realized that not all XBLA original IP's would be amazing. played a few times and never again.
Gauntlet, Dig-Dug. At 5 bucks, a ridiculous amount of money for games i could find for free on websites (or at least my MAME program,) at 2.50 only half as ridiculous, but I still don't think i'll bite.

I love how cynical you are despite having an abundance of MS points. LOL.
Three cheers for thrift!

This is a great idea, and MS should do it more often.
However, I'm not sure I'm going to pick any of these up. Even at 200 points, I don't see the need to own Gauntlet or Dig Dug on my 360, and I already own Small Arms. Zuma seems like fairly good value, and I quite enjoyed the trial, but I'm not sure I need another puzzle game at the moment.

I just bought Zuma recently...
Hopefully they will start putting older titles on sale at regular intervals. It would be a good way to spread the word of XBLA since apparently the minority even know about it.

I'm not gonna buy any of these, but it's a great idea never the less. Both customers and the developers will benefit from this.
Really looking forward to the top 10 of course ;)
