Publishers Revenge II: Speedball II Coming Next Week [Update]

Looks like publishers are taking XBLA announcements into their own hands. First, a little birdie from D3 told us that Puzzle Quest was coming this week. And now, Empire Interactive's albatross flops unceremoniously down upon our unsuspecting crowd and squawks "Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe will arrive on October the 17th!" At which point, our stunned faces watch as the awkward bird stumbles and bumbles its way back into the air to squawk another day.

My metaphor just ran aground. Nothing to see here.

Looks like the word on the street was only a few weeks off. Now if only they could decide if the logo's "2" is right or if it's "II", I would be one happy blogger.

(Let me foreshadow the coming tide, "Now where the heck is Sensible Soccer?")

[Update]: The price quoted in the press release was 800MSP.

I think Lunar should be

I think Lunar should be forced to hang that metaphor around his neck for a while as a reminder of what he did to it.

Back on topic, though, hooray for Speedball II! I still maintain that it should be a 400 point game, even with Live multiplayer, but I will probably buy it anyway, even if just to bask in the warm glow of nostalgia for half an hour and then never play it again.

They say they've added new teams and players - I hope these stay true to the spirit of the of the originals. I always loved the team names, not just Brutal Deluxe, but also things like the Turbo Hammers, Fatal Justice and Damocles, and the players with their short, single names and almost caricature-like portraits.
