Say goodbye to Commando 3, say hello to Wolf of the Battlefield

Commando 3 is now called Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3.

Now in it's 2nd name change, Commando 3 has a rather awkward story: first called MERCS, Capcom saw fit to change its name due to the upcoming retail title Mercenaries 2: World in Flames; they called it Commando 3, but with the announcement of Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Capcom decided against that name too; the latest (and final??) name is Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3, since the original japanese title for the series is Wolf of the Battlefield.

 

Personally I dig the new name more than the other ones, but changing its name 2 times is a bit weird, in my opinion. What do you think?

Changing its name twice is kinda weird, but I'm glad they ended up (maybe? lol) with such a cool name. MERCS is just kind of weird. They probably could have stuck with Commando 3 even with the other game. Sure, they might confuse some blond gamers ("Bionic commando 3? Where was 2?"), but it still works.

On the other hand, Wolf of the Battlefield just sounds wicked cool, like a Norris or Ahnuld action flick. I'll have to learn the Japanese name (Jin-Roh no Battlefield? j/k) from my sister. It also reminds me of The Wolf of Mibu (Saito) from the Rurouni Kenshin Anime. Survey says: they should have thought of that in the first place, though.
