IGN has a preview of an upcoming new title for XBLA. That title is none other than 1942: Joint Strike.

1942: Joint Strike will be a new title in the series and will feature:

  • 3D graphics
  • 2 player coop play
  • True widescreen shoot-em-up (without the "arcade bars" seen in Triggerheart Exelica, for example)


Looks like I'll have this one under my sight from now on, especially to see how that "True Widescreen" feature will influence the game.

Where is it supposed to be

Where is it supposed to be as far as the series goes? The last in the series was 1943: Kai. Or is it a redo of the first game?

Does it matter where it falls in the series? I mean, is there some kind of storyline we should be concerned about?

Eh, who cares, the game looks awesome! I'm glad to hear about this instead of a port of the original.

Classics Reborn.

And that's yet another reason that shows how a classic is really supposed to be brought back.

There's absolutely no reason why anyone should not be excited about this. Oh, the memories. And UN Squadron?? Oh, the memories.

I'm really liking these remakes, what they are doing with Bionic Comando, Lone Raider, SSFIITHDR, etc. I mean, what better incentive than to revisit those oldies in a more modern fashion, right?

Although that's not a substitute for new and original games like Assault Heroes, Omega 5, etc.

XBLA looks ever more promising. And with the recent influx of games of the shmup genre like Trigger Heart Exelica as of late, and the upcoming Ikaruga, Dodonpachi, etc... hmmm... yummi!.
