According to the Gamerscoreblog, Xbox Live Arcade this week won't see any new release (*sad panda face*), instead we'll be treated to 2 new titles being added to the Xbox Live Arcade Hits program, namely Assault Heroes and Doom.
- “Assault Heroes” (Sierra Online). Become the only surviving member of an elite special forces unit searching for a secret underground lab. Play the mission alone or fight side-by-side with a friend in the two-player cooperative mode. The winner of IGN’s Xbox LIVE Arcade game of the year for 2006.
- “DOOM” (id Software). Originally released in 1993, “DOOM” introduced millions to the white-knuckle excitement of the first-person shooter (FPS). Relive the classic demon-blasting action with up to four players over Xbox LIVE*, complete with 5.1 surround sound and smoother graphics.
Both of these titles will be available from now on for 400 Microsoft Points.
Are you picking any of these or would you rather have a new title this week?

I'm sure everyone would rather have had a new game. 400 points is incredibly good value for each of these games, but I really think that most people who wanted them would already have bought them at full price.
Still, nice to see some more games hitting the virtual bargain bin.

I dunno, considering how many systmes were sold with Halo 3 and the holidays these could be rather overlooked by new comers.
I have no complaints with the hits program being expanded, but I am still awaiting a shortlist of select games which I will purchase retail point cards to get.

It's nice to see more titles becoming Hits, thus dropping in price but, I wonder, wouldn't they sell MORE if those where the prices they started with?
I 'm totally unaffected by this drop in price since I usually buy the games I like basically the day of but there's tons of people who just bought, and are buying their 360s that can take advantage of these Hits.
In essence, early adopters pay the price. Oh well.
Assault Heroes 2 looks sweet! Can't wait for that one.

For some reason 360 users forget any XBLA games about a month after release. Barring a few exceptions the play and purchase rates drop off exponentially after that point. A price drop can't hurt sales and the extra attention is also nice. Some sales at less profit is better than no sales at a higher profit margin.
Early adopters always pay the price. In every market in every area. Part of normal economics.
