Xbox360Fanboy reports that the much hyped Fable 2, which had an XBLA tie-in announced during GDC 08, is actually going to have 3 XBLA titles attached to it.
Dubbed Keystone (the one announced at GDC), Mage Dice and Wizard's Tower, all 3 titles are being develop by Carbonated Games (Uno and Catan) and so far there's no info about pricing, release dates or if these titles will be released in a 3-in-1 pack or separated.
All the games will be playable in Fable 2 wether or not you bought the XBLA versions.

It seems a little weird that the games will be included in Fable 2.
Giving away 3 XBLA games for free doesn't seem like something MS would do to promote Fable 2.
On the other hand, if the games are not free, then Fable fans will be paying simply for the chance to play them early. Seems like a waste of money if you're going to buy Fable 2 anyway.
Or maybe they could do something clever, like offer free download codes for the games as a bonus for pre-ordering Fable 2.

I understand grinding gets rather annoying, but if these are released before Fable 2 is then it could really destroy the flow of the game. While the more dedicated RPG fan will still putz around doing sidequests for various reasons other people will be able to buy gear way beyond what they would normally have and bypass a fair amount of content. Short RPGs always seem to get poor reviews so I wonder how that might affect how well the game does overall.
This is all assuming I understand how the XBLA games are going to interact with the retail release. As I under it will allow for genearting currency/resources out of the actual Fable 2 game.
However, I can't get into Fable 1 yet at all personally. I have sat down to play it and get about 2 hours in, save and then when I retrun find myself back over an hour of work. It drives me crazy and has almost eliminated any interest I had in the sequel.

How did Carbonated Games fit into the development of Catan? I thought Big Huge Games did all the heavy lifting for that?

I wouldn't worry too much about breaking the game balance. I've played plenty of RPGs where money is not a big issue because of the way things are paced. Usually experience is more important than gold. Better gear might have level requirements. Or it might not be available at shops where you begin the game.
The main impact I see this having is it would make it easier to buy houses and property and ascend to nobility. But I don't think that would destroy the flow of the main quest line.
Besides, as Molyneux described on Major Nelson's podcast, having lots of money has its own consequences. It will affect your character's development and appearance the same way things like your skills and alignment do. So if you don't want to become an old scrooge, then you'd better not accrue too much money too fast.

As long as their included with the game as well, sweetness. But are these games free on XBLA as well? I've never heard anything about the price, and I know the achievement whore in me will want to download them as well, but only if their free.
I'm glad their in Fable though, I hate it when developers purposely leave things out to fatten their wallets later on with Download content.
