Wednesday's Release: TiQal and Switchball Update

This week the lineup will be joined by puzzler TiQal and an update to Switchball that adds "smoother gameplay". Without further ado I give you the media alert for the full details:

“TiQal,” a new challenge sure to delight fans of the puzzle game genre, is launching on Xbox LIVE Arcade this Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. GMT (1:00 a.m. PDT).

With graphics inspired by the ancient Mayan culture, “TiQal” takes players on an epic journey to save the village of the same name. Players must demolish enemy block walls by matching squares of the same color and building them up to unleash massive combo points and mind-blowing power-ups.

“TiQal” features 120 levels of easy to learn, yet difficult to master gameplay and 14 formidable power-ups, as well as multiplayer support for up to two players. Partner with a friend in the same room or via Xbox LIVE in co-op mode to rescue the village. Players will also enjoy sumptuous graphics and sound effects, as well as an impressive musical score.

Developed by Slapdash Games, “TiQal” will be available worldwide for 800 Microsoft Points and is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. For more details on “TiQal” please visit:

The Switchball update has

The Switchball update has actually been up there for a few days, unless there's a second one. It basically fixes the screen tearing issue.

Another worthless puzzle

Another worthless puzzle game... how many of these do we need? Let's recap:

1. Bejeweled

2. Jewel Quest

3. Booger Bunnies

4. Puzzle Quest (although this game is more RPG... and it's awesome)

5. TiQal

6. Poker Smash (unique and fun, but still a puzzler)

7. Puzzle Fighter HD

8. Word Puzzle

9. Tetris Splash (I'll let this slide on account of being the original puzzler)

10. Hexic HD

11. Hexic 2

12. Zuma

13. Luxor 2

14. Lumines Live

15. Astropop

So that's 15 out of 105 games? That's a bit more than 14%. Why do we need that many puzzle games when there's War World and Rocketbowl to be delivered?

It has been over a month

It has been over a month since any official word anywhere on WarWorld. Considering there were rather complete copies of the game already shown and a different publisher than with the PC version I am thinking it has been axed due to internal issues.

After all it has been more than a 6 month delay.

Teehee, you said Booger

Teehee, you said Booger Bunnies.

But yeah, there are a bit many puzzle games all in all. Only ones I play these days still are Puzzle Quest, Puzzle Fighter, an occasionally Lumines.

i'm going to check the user

i'm going to check the user score of GS, since I haven't played the trial myself.
