Xblah has uncovered that the latest GamesTM Magazine (Issue 69) has an extremely short blurb about the popular rhythm/puzzle title Audiosurf is coming soon to Xbox Live Arcade. This is an amazing feat as Audiosurf is currently one of the most popular titles on Valve's Steam service. The real question though is how is this game going to be released on XBLA? On Steam the title was released with a free soundtrack because the game ships with no music, yet it is a rhythm game. The game plays similiar to E4 letting users play the game to their own custom music, but how can the developer be sure that everyone has music on their Xbox 360 (or streamable)? Perhaps a free Halo or Gears of War soundtrack with purchase? We'll keep you up to date on the progress of this news, but seriously go download the PC demo.

When I played (the demo) I really like the concept of collecting the boxes and trying to make the like colored collections. What I didn't like was that everything I tried no one had played. Maybe it is just due to the fact tthat it was right after it was released?

Every now and then there are songs where I am the only person on the leaderboard, but overall most songs have a full (as in 10+) scores at this point.
Great game and definately worth the $10.
I wonder how 360 players will react to the visuals though. If they can't handle Space Giraffe then the expert riders with effects could drive them over the edge.

Observation:
Audiosurf is available on Steam. Steam is made by Valve. Valve also made The Orange Box. The Orange Box consisted of the HL2 content, Team Fortress 2 and Portal. Portal has this song called "Still Alive." "Still Alive" was made available on Rock Band. Rock Band was published by EA. EA also pulished The Orange Box, which is made by Valve who made Steam which has Audiosurf.
(Sorry for the confusing nature of the above post, but I wanted to start all the sentences with the words that ended to previous, for my own personal amusement.)
Anyway, where I'm getting at with this is that what do you all this of the possibility of Rock Band songs being compatible with Audiosurf, since all these devs seem buddy buddy with one another (at least in some fashion with one another). I think something like that could increase the sales, potentially.

Audiosurf needs no cross compatibilty. It takes any audio that the computer (or 360) can play. Rock Band tracks however are not pure audio and a whole new input interpretor would have to be created.
It would be nice to see Rock Band exclusive tracks and songs available as part of Audiosurf, but you are talking about music licensing for distribution then. The RIAA (and others) would want an additional cut of each sale and it would be quite price prohibitive.
