EA bringing Hasbro to XBLA.or something else?

HASBRO EA just released a press release about how they are finally bringing some of the Hasbro properties that they licensed last year. Included in the list of titles announced are : BOGGLE, BATTLESHIP, YAHTZEE, CONNECT FOUR, SORRY! and SORRY! Sliders. While I personally hope that this means that EA has realized that selling Monopoly as a retail disk was a bad idea, but there is something even more interesting about the PR. Looking at the following quite:

Additional customisation features will allow players to earn virtual trophies, furniture and themes to decorate their personal virtual game rooms. The Hasbro Family Game Night lineup will take full advantage of Xbox LIVE community features such as online play, Achievements, the ability to launch new games without leaving the environment, and sharing customized space with friends. The EA Hasbro virtual game closet is slated to open in Spring 2009 with multiple games followed by additional releases throughout the year.

To me this sounds a lot more like the “Live Party” channel system (think 1 vs. 100) than XBLA, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to get anyone at EA to confirm or deny this yet. If it is indeed “Live Party” then it seems to reason that Microsoft is going full out for the service, perhaps trying to go after both the Wii Market and PS3’s Home in one shot.

What do you guys think of this, would you like to see more (read: any) “Live Party” games or should MS stick with the traditional XBLA titles?

That's the EA of old that we

That's the EA of old that we all know & despise. I wonder how this will compare with recently-released (and crappy) Wii and PS2 versions (http://www.hasbro.com/shop/browse.cfm?Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&Ntt=family%20game%20night)?

My wife bought the Wii version for our 5-yr old for Christmas and it's so bad that even he won't play it any more.

Hmm well if EA is wanting to

Hmm well if EA is wanting to release these games why don't they release their strike games too?

Hasbro games

I'm highly anticipating these games, however I hope they do a much better job than was done with Monopoly. That they'll have online multiplayer is a step in the right direction.

I'm highly anticipating

I'm highly anticipating these games also but I'm not anticipating getting a great value at a great cost. Microsoft has really been letting their cut-throat ethics show when it comes to pricing at nickle and diming us. I will try and refuse this offer because I've been boned so many times on those games that are "Highly Anticipated" they feel the name will sell it well enough that they don't need to put the extra development costs out of their pocket. Then they don't have to sell that many copies to make a profit. Price is my guiding light right now, with the economy they way it is, we really shouldn't be spending out time or money on entertainment, Sometimes this video game industry is more ruthless than the oil companies.
