Whenever a PopCap game becomes available for the XBLA service, the old argument of "Why would I pay for a game that I can download from the Internet?" comes up. Well on top of the first answer that is it actually costs more to buy it from PopCap’s site (most of their games are $20 for the full version), comes the fact that this game looks better and plays better on the 360.
For those of you who haven't already, go check out the demo of the PC version of this game on the PopCap site here. The first thing I noticed when playing the game on XBLA this week is that it really does scream out for a controller. Without going into the whole keyboard/mouse vs. a controller, this game is night and day in comparison for the controller. Having a set area in which you can move the control for the gun just fits into the game play of moving the turret on your tank.
The other improvement is the graphics. With the art style being what it is in Heavy Weapon, the difference isn't huge, but it is better, and is a huge improvement when you consider that it's now in widescreen.
Throw in co-op play, achievements, and a probable 800 point price tag, and it's certainly moved up on my wanted list.
The Achievement list is:

Awesome, thanks for the impressions. I'm anxious for this game for those exact same reasons.
I played the demo on PC and loved it in spite of the horrible mouse control scheme. I hope the XBLA version is on its way soon!

Good question, but I have another: Why would I pay $10 for a game I grabbed off of bittorrent... last year.
Seriously, this game is pretty old. I've loved some of popcap's stuff, and I did purchase Bejewelled 2 during the XBLA title drought.
But unless this is more than just a port of the orgininal, I don't think i'll be picking it up.

4 player multiplayer over live? depending on how it's done, I could see that making the game worth the purchase.
I've got to say I agree with the idea that this game screams for a dual-analog controller... It was almost a chore to play with the mouse and keyboard.

I just hope the new controls don't make the game too easy. They'd better be ready to throw more enemies around to compensate for fact that the player can move and shoot in different directions.
Are they going to cram 4x the enemies on screen for 4p co-op? That could be really insane.

from what i've seen, this is one of the many maps with crazy things going on...
Have you found a workaround to save the game in coop mode?
I've played since the mission 12, in coop, but if i continue the mission, the game start from mission 7.... why?
Thanks in advance,
Davide.
