Gamerscoreblog has announced that there is a new patch for Jetpac Refuelled. This isn't your standard patch as you apparently have to go through a little bit of leg work to get it to work...
The Rare team just sent over word that they've sent out an update to Jetpac Refuelled. Here's the deal. While playing in single player mode, there's a stage that awards you with a free dashboard theme. Some of you pointed out that the theme wasn't downloading correctly. The issue has now been rectified and an update posted to Xbox Live. There is a glitch that you should know about. In order for the update to install correctly you must delete the existing game (package) from your console and follow the instructions below. Don't delete your game save. Please note: Deleting and then re-downloading the package will NOT affect your saved game or Leaderboard status, or cost you any additional Microsoft Points. In addition, you WILL NOT be charged for this download. Instructions:
- Navigate to the 'System' blade in the 360 dashboard
- Select the 'Memory' menu option
- Select the storage device on which 'Jetpac Refuelled' is saved
- Select the 'Games' menu option
- Navigate to the 'Jetpac' entry in the menu and select it
- When you select the 'Jetpac' entry, highlight 'Jetpac Xbox Live Arcade Game'
- Select and confirm the 'Delete' option
- FINAL STEP: Re-download from the Arcade downloads section of the dashboard to obtain the updated game package

For the record, I tried it and it worked fine. I got the theme and didn't lose any of my progress or local leaderboards or anything.
Weird that it doesn't auto-update, though. They say there's a "glitch", does that mean they'll fix the fix? Or was it just quicker to get the patch out this way?

I looked the other day and there were over 20k people on the leaderboard. I think that's a decent first week for an XBLA game, but nothing groundbreaking.
But yeah, I found it a lot of fun and surprisingly challenging.

I've noticed that some people are starting to get the Infection achievement. If one of us gets it we should post so the others can too. It may be more widespread now anyway?

Most of the people with it are from Europe I think.

I don't even want the Infection achievement.
With Small Arms it was cool because it was a new idea, they had the whole social experimint thing tracking your degree of separation, and it was a multiplayer-focused game with 4 people per match, which facilitates the spread of the achievement like a plague.
But none of the above apply to Jetpac. This achievement's not a plague, it's an STD, and I'm doing my part to prevent the spread by not engaging in unprotected multiplayer.
I'm boycotting this achievement because I don't want to encourage future copycat achievements when there are already so few achievements available to XBLA games without wasting one like this.

Was it hard to get the Small Arms achievement? I kind of lucked out in that the second I bought the game Tomacco had a game already going with the Small Arms guys, so I got it almost right away.
With this it seems like the developers don't even play their game as I have played quite a few online games and have yet to get it. (maybe 10 games)

I don't know if it's hard to get now, but when the game first came out it was impossible not to get it. Most people bought the game for multiplayer, and with 4 people to a room it spread like crazy.
In fact, it seemed like most people were at only 2 or 3 degrees of separation from the Gastronauts. But with Small Arms, 3 degrees of separation can touch almost 40 people if they each play once to catch it and once to pass it. In Jetpac the same formula gets you 3 people.
