Puzzle Quest creators at it again with Galactrix

Infinite Interactive, creators of current critical darling Puzzle Quest, are out to prove that the RPG/Puzzle mashup is here to stay. Not content to merely receive massive amounts of cash praise for Puzzle Quest, they have begun development on Galactrix. Think, a sci-fi RPG version of Collapse. Bizarre? Maybe. Addictive? Probably.

Since Collapse is more "real-time puzzle game" (Am I coining a new phrase here? Apparently not.) Galactrix will differ from Puzzle Quest's turn-based combat. Infinite Interactive is also currently developing a multiplayer mode for up to 6 players where the players are spilt into 2 teams and each person moves in turn (sorry, no twitchy free-for-alls). But, that could all be completely changed before they are finished so don't get too excited.

They are only about 25% through development and have no publishers attached at this point so PC is the only slated target for the game. However, with the recent announcement of Puzzle Quest coming to XBLA, it's not hard to see how Galactrix would follow the same path (pending solid XBLA sales of Puzzle Quest, of course).

Hit the jump for a bunch of screens and the full (albeit short) interview with Steve Fawkner, CEO and Lead Designer at Infinite Interactive.

I love how when we first
I love how when we first reported this in February, no one cared (even me) but now since they released puzzle quest everyone is interested =D
That is so true!

Yeah, I didn't even see the story had already basically been covered (although the interview is new). Puzzle Quest just shipped from Gamefly for my DS so I'll finally get to see what all the fuss is really about!

i completely forgot about
i completely forgot about the story too and I wrote it =D. from the screenshots the game didn't look that exciting at all. i don't think i am going to rent/buy either though because they seem to take A LOT of time. i like my puzzle games in small doses.
Puzzle Quest rocks!

I actually just put it down for my DS to see if there were any new comments on the site :)

Definitely a great game and a solid pick up for the XBLA service.
