Contra Menu screenshot

It seems the screenshots are starting to slowly stream in now and Ain't it cool news has a screenshot of the opening menu of Contra here (you'll have to scroll about halfway down the page to see it). Looking from the menu it looks like we will be seeing online co-op, as I can't see any other way that you could play multiplayer Contra!

Can't wait.

UPDATE: Just to clarify, by multiplayer, I mean a versus mode, by all means this will have local co-op

Maybe I missed the sarcasm, but....
There's always..... y'know... the second controller. :)

One thing that's starting to bum me out about the whole online thing is the continuing decline of decent local multiplayer.
Top-down, and sidescrolling adventures that don't require squished boxes on the screen are great and are a part of a dying breed these days.

Even with multiple boxes, I'd really like to see less FPS-type games and more "through-games" - games with a point, a purpose, a set goal.

People wonder why many old-school Nintendo games are still held onto tightly. Of course, many of them are also 1-player games, but plenty are of the two(-or more)-player breed. Contra will be one of those games, of course, but we need a revival of TRUE local multiplayer.

Sorry about the confusion, I've updated the post. Also, I completely agree with you about the need for more local multiplayer.

If you haven't already, you should check out the local multiplayer in Mutant Storm, I've put in hours and hours already and it's fantastic.
