After months of fruitless searching for anything (and trust me I did a crazy amount of searching) on a mysterious game called GEON coming from Eidos New Media (part of Eidos Interactive), we finally get some questions answered.

Eidos has lifted the curtain at their own site to feature Geon: Emotions* and give us some semblance of what the game will be like. Looks and sounds like a mashup of Pac-man and Eets and a Marble Blast style 3D board. To play (and win) you must collect energy in the form of "E-motes" (think Pac-man's dots) in order to charge your cube and score points. But you will need to use the 8 emotions (first thumbnail below) at your disposal to manipulate the battle in your favor (just like in Eets).

The screenshots are included here (just click on the thumbnail for full-size) but Eidos has a trailer that will give you a great sense of how the game moves.

Geon will feature 4-player online and splitscreen local multiplayer and the game is slated for "summer" for XBLA and PC download. Maybe this will be a game that can stand strong against the upcoming PSN onslaught of innovative titles.

* -- The spelling is a bit weird since they registered "GEON" and is the same in the press release but spell it "Geon" on the site and the logo looks like "geon". It's another PLAYSTATION 3 situation.

Eidos New Media announces first title exclusively for Microsoft XBLA®

GEON: emotions

Eidos New Media, part of Eidos Interactive, one of the world’s leading
publishers and developers of entertainment software, has teamed up with
Strawdog Studios to develop its first title exclusively for Microsoft Xbox
Live Arcade (XBLA), GEON: emotions will be available later this Summer.

High octane visuals, with a fast and slick sound track to match, GEON:
emotions is a psychedelic, pick-up-and-play game of rapidly changing
tactics. Playing as one of eight emotions – Rage, Passion, Fear, Envy,
Rapture, Courage, Bliss or Melancholy – players must race to collect
pellets and score goals, using power-ups and their ‘emotional’
strengths and weaknesses.

There are three single player modes: Duel, Time Attack and Mini Games, and
three multiplayer modes for up to four players: Duel, Team Geon and Last
Man Standing and a huge selection of different arenas to get pulses
racing.

“GEON: emotions is our first title for Xbox Live Arcade and we’re
really proud of it,” said Simon Protheroe, New Media and IT Director at
Eidos. “It’s the perfect mix of fun, action and head-to-head
competition which works so well on Live Arcade.”

Contenders will need passion to overcome their fear in order to rage
towards the bliss of victory. Do you have the courage to look melancholy
in the eye, give a rapturous performance and become the envy of all as the
Master of Geon?
