ESRB Watch: Splashing Challenge

After a long silence we're proud to announce today contestants on the ESRB show.

In the red corner, weighing in with more rumored name changes than actual game details. It's a good game for the whole family with a rating of E. Once, it was called Tetris Splash...then Tetris Online...but now we're proud to announce the actual definitive title is...Tetris Splash. (Don't you just love a good anti-climax?)

And in the blue corner, weighing in with 33 characters including that pesky colon. It's as simple and addictive as Bejeweled and has nearly as many orcs as World of Warcraft (not really). It garnered a risque rating of E10+ for some seriously suggestive themes. It's...Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

It will be a heated open-ended fight to see which game will actually be released in a reasonable amount of time. My money is on both fighters passing out from cert heat exhaustion and taking months to recover. Hopefully I am wrong.

Puzzle Quest is a great game

Puzzle Quest is a great game and I hope it isn't delayed too long.

I wonder how well Tetris will control with the analog stick. After so many years playing it on computers and Gameboys with a digital crosspad I odn't know how natural it will feel. Or how easy it will be to move the pieces precisely at high speed. Oh well, that is what demos are for.

Edit: I just had a terrifying thought... With Puzzle Quest being $30-$35 on DS and the Wii version being retail (last I heard but that may not be accurate) how many points will they charging? It is a great game but if they want 1600 points (or possibly even more) then it could be the most exspensive initial release game on XBLA.

This could start an upward trend if it sells well and it is a good game so even at 1600 points it probably will do rather well. ; ;

My Bet is for 1200 points

I can't imagine them breaking the 1200 point limit for a game that's been out for a while and is just a port (not knocking it, I'll buy it the second I can).

Puzzle Quest is awesome. The
Puzzle Quest is awesome. The combination of match-three puzzle and rpg sounds really weird, but it works so well in the game that it's a wonder noone's thought of it earlier. I bet we'll see plenty of imitators in the years ahead, though. :)

I just want to say that I absolutely love your writing.

Plus, it always brings a smile to my face - or chuckle - or downright rolling on the floor. Good stuff.
