XBLA Top 10 -- Week of 8/6/07
Could it be? It appears that Major Nelson has come through for us two weeks in a row. Of course, things aren't as perfect as they seem. What you see below is the newly corrected list. When the list originally appeared, it had a surprise visitor: Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
Ever since that point speculation has run rampant. The most common theory seems to be this: SPFIITHDR appeared on PartnerNet and was "purchased" by so many people that it appeared on the list. Strange but true? We'll never know. So, let's just look (and read) below and focus on what we do know.

Button mashers rejoice and have taken up their weird (but useful) twitches and mashed their way to running, jumping, and throwing victories. In other words, Track and Field did well. Really well.
Also of interest was the appearance of Bomberman Live on the top played games on Xbox Live. It fought off GRAW 2 to take the 9th spot on the chart. Maybe it didn't sell as much as Track and Field this week but clearly that is only because most people already own it and are playing the heck out of it. Thanks again to Hudson for realizing what we wanted after the infamous Bomberman: Act Zero (a cringe-worthy 34 on Metacritic).

I think the reason that Puzzle Fighter showed up is that they counted all downloads in the category of the game of the game. Some themes and gamer pictures was relased last week, and I guess they sold pretty good.
That's the explaination that make most sense to me. Also, you may have noticed that Carcassonne was on the original list as well, and that game had new DLC released. That support this theory as well.
My observations about the real list:
* The Sega Vintage titles continues to do well. Well deserved if you ask me, both games are solid and the interface they use is great.
* Is Bomberman a new "on the list every week"-game? I think so. It will stay there a long time together with Worms, 3D Ultra Minigolf and Uno.

Very good call on the DLC thing! That is highly credible.
Also, yeah, I think Bomberman will probably be on the list for a long time...although it might have sold so well in the beginning that it saturated the market and will fall off the sold list but stay on the played list.
