Wednesday's Haul: Advance Notice Edition [Update]
Gamerscoreblog has just confirmed the arrival of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix this wednesday. It might just be the most confirmed game ever. Conspicuously absent from the latest post is any info on price or the inclusion of War World in this Wednesday's fun. Were we deceived? Hopefully we find out soon.
That's old news though. The interesting bit is this: Besides SPFIITHDR (and hopefully War World), XBLA will also see the release of two DLC packs this Wednesday. First, Bomberman Live! will be getting the Bomb-Up Pack 1. Second, Eets: Chowdown will also be getting some DLC. We already knew that though. No pricing details yet, nor any info on the specific contents of these packs.
Gotta love the advance notice though. Makes budgeting for this week that much easier (or harder as the case may be). Do you think Silver Creek with try to sneak another pack for Soltrio Solitaire in there just to avoid feeling left out?
[Update]: Chris Paladino of Gamerscoreblog has responded to concern about War World not making it this week with the following at the link below:
"War World is not release [sic] this week according to all of the internal folks I've asked...
Sometimes there are many bowling pins being juggled, and developers can get their signals crossed - which is why until you see the press release for the week - nothing is official. "
Looks like I might be breaking out the ol' strikeout tool...
At least they confirmed the price of SPFIITHDR will be 800 MSP.
To War Or To Puzzle, That Is The Question [Update]
Looks like our "Hot August" continues this week with another steaming hot two-fer just one game on tap. Apparently, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will be all alone have some serious competition with the straightforwardly named War World also arriving this week.
I may have looked foolish last week when I predicted a double 800 MSP week only to be slapped down by Jeff Minter himself (well, his blog at least). But this week should be a lock, right? So I will predict that this week's titles will both arrive at a stout 800 MSP, an XBLA first. Please don't make me cry myself to sleep use the strikeout again, I'm begging you.
I ask the masses: Who needs some more multiplayer XBLA games? And will you be warring or puzzling this week? Or, dare I say it, both?
[Update]: Strikeout tool in full effect. War World not coming this week. I'll be crying myself to sleep again.

Gamecock Backs Blazing Lizard
Pirates vs. Ninjas: Dodgeball is now one step closer to arriving on XBLA unspecified "home console download platforms in the first quarter of 2008". Gamecock has just announced that they have entered into an agreement with Blazing Lizard to publish the game.
Considering Blazing Lizard is chock-full of former Volition employees (makers of Xbox 360 exclusive Saint's Row), the likelihood that PvN:D will arrive on XBLA seems very high.
For more on the game, check out the Blazing Lizard site here. Click on Games for Dodgeball screenshots and concept art.

"New" Geo Wars Only in PGR4
Get out your pitchforks and torches (or your wallets) because the latest installment in the Geometry Wars franchise will be a PGR4 exclusive. And worse still it will not be made available on XBLA at all. That's right, the next Geo Wars will (basically) cost you $60.
On the plus side this "new" Geo Wars (sporting the title Geometry Wars: Waves) is not considered to be a full-blown sequel. It is based on the cobweb-laden Retro Evolved and not the fresh and spunky Galaxies.

Metal Slug 3 at TGS 2007
Remember last year about this time when we heard that Metal Slug would be coming to XBLA? Well now SNK Playmore has finally told us exactly which Metal Slug it will be: Metal Slug 3.
Well, "told us" might be understatement as the source of this news was a bit strange to track down but here it is on their Japanese website (translated for your convenience and amusement).
Also present at SNK's TGS "Xbox Live Arcade Corner" is "Wolf Legend Special". New game? No. Just the original Japanese title for Fatal Fury Special.

Wanako's Next: Arkadian Warriors [Update]
Wanako Studios, the largest Latin American video game development house (and now owned by Vivendi/Sierra Online), is churning out a new game called Arkadian Warriors. Details are a bit thin, but based on Wanako's pedigree (Assault Heroes, 3D Ultra Minigolf) it's fairly safe to assume that this is headed for XBLA.
The announcement came out of Leipzig with the following blurb and feature description:
Define your legacy... Awaken your inner-beast... Fight with one of Arkadian' three powerful warriors to the ultimate confrontation with Gorgon herself. Spanning treacherous dungeons consisting of countless enemies, heinous and powerful bosses, your warriors will embark on a trek of unimaginable proportions.
If that's got you interested (or even if it hasn't) here are some screens to sink your teeth into. (More talking after the break.)
[Update]: Ross Erickson has confirmed with us that this game is indeed headed for XBLA.
[Update2]: We unfortunately had the incorrect name of the title, it's now fixed.
Hungry? Snack On These Doritos Games
"Everyone knows Dinosaurs love Doritos." Wait, what?
Confusing to some (read: everyone) but that is how the pitch for Doritos Dinosaur Dash begins. Why pitch a game with cheesy-chip-loving dinos? To win the Unlock Xbox contest, of course.
DDD isn't the only finalist in the contest though. You also have Doritos Presents UDC: Ultimate Dodgeball Champions, Monkeys from Mt. Dorito, PB's Quest for Flavor, and Rythum Racing.
Go check out the finalists (who apparently beat out "thousands" of other entries) and marvel at the gifts that product placement has given us.
