So it's been almost exactly one year now (I only missed the anniversary but minutes) since we first brought you the news that the marketing folks behind the Yaris would be bringing a game to XBLA. Over that year we've taken more friendly ribbing about that rumor than any other. Well finally we can stop hanging our heads when ever Toyota's economy car drives by.
Siliconera has uncovered not only that a game titled simply "Yaris" has been rated by the loose lipped ESRB, but also this picture of someone playing it.
Whenever I think of this game I still have the same question I did then. If the game is meant as advertising, will it be free?

It would have to be free - I doubt people are going to be too keen to pay for a Yaris racing game.
When the Yaris was launched down here, Toyota ran a competition with a flash game where you had to race a toy Yaris around a living room. It had an isometric perspective rather than the more conventional perspective shown in that shot, and was mildly entertaining. Not worth money, though.
You can't tell much from the picture, but judging from the big white slope in front of the cars the new game either looks like a Mad Tracks style toy racer or an Extreme-G style futuristic racer.
Either way, I'm not that keen.
