Big News at Pac-Man World Championships?

I will be covering the Pac-Man world championships tomorrow today in NYC (it's where I live after all) so look out for the upcoming coverage. Of immediate interest is hype surrounding a secret announcement that will be made at the press conference before the competition.

Aaron Greenberg of Microsoft has been quoted as saying:

"We have a secret unveil for gamers around the world that I think will go down in video game history."

Hide the kids, because we all know how the fanboys react to a boatload of hype like that. Let's just hope it's not a total riot letdown. We should get the word by 1:30PM Eastern tomorrow, so stay tuned to XBLArcade.com.

Personal Speculation

Now I'm thinking to myself...what if the announcement is that you *can* pass the split-screen level of Pac-Man and that there is a new world record that goes above 3,333,360. That'd be video game history (and unless Billy Mitchell was the one to discover it, he owes someone $100,000).

I agree with Tomacco. Didn't we see this Pac-Man CE in the ESRB a while back? I just hope there is another xbla game this week if this ends up being true.

Yeah.
You are probably right. I just wish they would release Jr. Pac-man. How come no one has released it since Atari. Scrolling longer levels. Totally different challenge. It would be welcome on the Arcade. Since so few pac-man fans probably have played it in recent years.

To answer my own question.
On Wikipedia, it said that Midway made the jr. pac-man game and Namco decided they did not want to buy the program. So the only namco allowed version was the arcade and atari game. Sucks maybe Namco can work something out and buy the actual rom designed by midway or sorta coop on it. Although the championship edition sounds like fun, I wish JR. would have made it into wider availability.
