I was wrong. SPFIITHDR let me down. But in its place are two other highly sought after titles beginning with the letter "S". The long awaited and gritty Street Trace:NYC is joined by Jeff Minter's triptastic Space Giraffe. Both clock in at 800 MSP and They will be available at the usual time on this Wednesday, August 22nd.
This marks an XBLA first: two new IPs debuting on the same day for 800 MSP each. Street Trace:NYC will be available at 800 MSP. Apparently, Gamerscoreblog got a little confused with all the dancing lights in Space Giraffe and tried to price it a little high but Jeff Minter says 400 MSP. And there was much rejoicing. Yay...
Remember to check out my previous previews of Street Trace:NYC: Gameplay, Single Player, and Multiplayer.
Also, screens for Space Giraffe are here. Street Trace:NYC, here.

OXM gave Space Giraffe a 2/10. I find it hard to believe that it's that bad.
Either way, I'll be trying both of these games out and hope for the best.

I believe you may be right, because Nelson updated his posting reflecting Minter's posting of SG being 400 MSP.
Yay!

Space Giraffe was intended to be 400 points since conception.
The linked article seems pretty accurate about OXM's point of view. This is what happens when a developer blows the bigger game magazines off, they get bitter. I am not saying the game is going to be the best ever created and should get a 10/10.
I actually expect it to average around a 7/10 across all reviews. It is an updated game with spiffy graphics designed to play well with the modern style of controller, but it isn't some revolutionary game bringing in a new era.
Grrrr....I hate "journalism" like that.
Street Race sounds to be quite the game also. Shapping up to be a fun week on XBLA.
Ugh, why do I get the feeling Street Trace is going to be...not good. Same feeling I had about Wing Commander Arena, and my concerns turned out to be pretty much founded. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'll try the demo either way.
Space Giraffe I'm not even going to bother with, but only because I've only played Tempest once in my life and I've never had the urge to play it again...and this seems like pretty much the same thing.
Kudos to Microsoft, though. They're keeping these Wednesdays rolling along nicely.

Funny that you had that feeling considering both were developed by Gaia Industries.
I must say that I had the same hunch about Street Trace:NYC when I first heard about it and saw it at DigitalLife in NYC. Then I played it...and I really enjoyed it. It's not a game that will blow you away but it can be really fun.
