The game may have gone through one too many name changes, but it appears the gameplay is just what the doctor ordered. Simple, back to basics, Tetris with up to 6-player multiplayer over Xbox Live. Local 4-player, as well. Tetris in its pure form. Finally.
And if you are wondering why in the world it would be called Splash -- it has "beautiful aquatic backscapes add a real splash to the fun of Tetris."
Three modes included: Tetris, T-spin, and Combo. Play solo, cooperatively, or competitively. Missing anything you wanted out of an XBLA Tetris?

Sounds a lot like the old Tengen NES version with more players, which is a good thing.
Do the $30 retail Tetries (or is that Tetri...Tetrisisy?) really offer anything more?

this annoys me a bit to be honest.... i generally love Tetris, but come on, ive bought the retail version... and now this? why why why.....
( but still, probably gonna buy this one to. its great not to have to put in a disc to have a quick game. :-) )
but still, would have wished this came out before the retail.

It's also this week's lone release.
I think I'll pass.

I am a puzzle fan and paying $20 for used copies of Tetris for the PSP or DS don't seem worthwhile if I can get it for $10 on XBLA.
I understand people passing because it is another Tetris, but I have been pondering the retail version off and on for a while now so I will buy. Well, assuming they don't mess it up somehow. It is hard to mess up Tetris, but just in case I always play trials first.
