Monopoly would be the super bomb on XBLA, especially if they maybe could get some rights to do it up like Uno and release new boards for download based on certain themes the tons of versions of Monopoly have. Scrabble I could probably use to get my mom to play videogames every once in a blue moon too. Hopefully this is gonna go down sooner than later.

Two concerns, First is if there will be a healthy pool of players available. Even on Poker Smash, I can barely find a game. The second concern is if there will be some sort of punishment for players leaving before the game ends. Since a game of monopoly takes awhile, I'm sure there will be lots of people leaving as soon as they start losing.

I think it was about 4 weeks ago when I was given a hint that some Hasbro games were being developed for the Xbox Live Arcade. My guesses before today's press release were Scrabble and Monopoly... fate it seems that both games showed up again today in the press release.

Well, I for one would go for the Scrabble game. I love Scrabble. There's a Scrabble application on Facebook that I love to play. I hope there's more than just Monopoly and Scrabble down the line, though. I'd love to see Sorry.

but I dont get 'monopoly' - its CandyLand for grownups, and doesn't translate itself well into a 'non-interactive' experience. Any game that is nothing more than a 'roll and move' experience will not do well as an XBLA title, because its only appeal is in sitting around a table with friends. There's no sense that your strategy was successful - only that your dice were rolling really well for you. We need games where winning and losing has more to do with the choices players make rather than how many pips are showing when they roll the dice.

Errr....have you not really tried 'playing' Monopoly? It's more than just a roll and move game....there is plenty of strategy involved. Such as "Do I blow all my money buying up the first properties I land on right away?" or "Should I save and try to go for a monopoly?", then we got the house/hotel building, etc, etc.....I don't recall Monopoly games never selling well for any system they've been on since the NES, it even sells well for cell phones. And with online play, you have tons of different kinds of players to possibly be matched up with as opposed to the few friends you can get together for it.
