Achievements: Undertow

As per usual, X360A has the honor of a world exclusive unveil of the Undertow achievements. Did we expect any less from our friends over there? Never.

The achievements appear well balanced and there is definitely a carrot dangling for the hardcore: Lord of the Deep. To get that one you'll have to rack up 10,000 kills. Yup, it's official, the insanity that was Gears of War's Seriously... and G.R.A.W.'s Heavyweight has finally made it's way to XBLA. Can't say I'm surprised, but it's a bit much in my opinion.

I agree it's too much, but at least this is a game where I think kills should come a lot faster than in Gears or GRAW. Depending on how easily people die and how long respawn times are, maybe it's not so bad.

Oh, I just noticed the achievement does not mention any particular mode. Maybe it counts your total kills across all single- and multi-player games, since I think they play similarly.

If the 10k kills isn't restricted to multiplayer, then is that one even that bad?

I mean, going through the 3 campaigns, possibly a few times each if you want to try solo, co-op, and multiple difficulty levels, it's entirely possible that you could get the first few thousand kills before even touching the versus mode.

It looks like these are going to be challenging. Not only 10,000 regular kills, but 1,000 with depth charges. Considering I have no idea how depth charges will work (torpedos or trip mines?), it could be easy or hard.

There are challenging

There are challenging achievements and then there are ridiculous time sink achievements.

Until we know how long the average match/game lasts and about how many kills per game on average we won't know what type these achievements will be. Heck, they might even be much easier than we think right now.

When games have ridiculous time sinks I usually get tired of them much faster personally. Just feel like you are spinning your wheels after a while.
