Last week we saw the Xbox LIVE Arcade multiplayer-only game that allows up to 24 players to enjoy the thrills of Pacific WW2 battles, receive a temporary price reduction as part of the ‘Deal of the Week’ promotion for Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers. It is pretty obvious that people were overjoyed by this decision as Battlefield 1943 climbed to the top of this week’s top 20! But the action didn’t stop there as mid-week saw the release of the highly-anticipated time-bending Misadventures of PB Winterbottom.
To better help you choose what Xbox LIVE Arcade games you should be choosing to spend your valuable Microsoft Points on, XBLArcade.com is continuing last week’s new addition to publishing the Top 20 list of Xbox LIVE Arcade titles every week based on the information posted on Major Nelson’s website. We think this will give you a much better idea what the other 23+ million Xbox LIVE members are playing in the realm of Xbox LIVE Arcade games and help with your decision of what to buy with those MS Points.
For the week of February 15th to March 1st, the Top Arcade Titles (Full Versions purchased), are as follows:
Greed Corp is a fresh and innovative turn-based strategy game for Xbox Live Arcade. It will be the first in a series of different types of games situated in a rich, fictional world inspired by the industrial revolutions and their destructive effects on the environment. Featuring an innovative land collapsing mechanic which constantly alters the strategic landscape, you must destroy your enemies or the very land they stand on before they do it to you. Build Harvesters to reap your land for credits and spend them on armories and cannons. Manufacture walkers to conquer enemy territory and order carriers to transport your troops across the map. Ultimately, defeat your enemies by eliminating their troops and destroying or capturing their structures.
“Greed Corp” gets greedy on February 24th at 9 a.m. GMT (2:00 a.m. PDT).
Published by Easy Tiger Media and Valcon Games and developed by W!Games, “Greed Corp” will be available for 800 Microsoft Points everywhere except Asia and is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. Duke Nukem, the politically incorrect action hero and ultimate alien ass kicker, defends Earth and its babes from alien invasion in Duke Nukem 3D. This is the award winning game that helped define the FPS genre, introducing unparalleled interactivity, and a main character that spoke. Take the fight to the aliens across 39 levels featuring Hollywood, Los Angeles, a moon base, and alien spacecraft. Innovative items like the Jetpack, HoloDuke, Shrink Ray, or Pipe Bombs allow you to fight the aliens in any style you want. Defeat the aliens, so Duke can get back to some R&R with a stogie, a warm belly, and a bottle of Jack.
Duke Nukem 3D is the Deal of the Week running from Monday, February 20th to Sunday, February 29th. During this time Xbox LIVE Gold Members everywhere can pick up Duke Nuken 3D for 400 Microsoft Points. That’s 50% off the regular price of 800 Microsoft Points. Lazy Raiders is an action puzzler where you don't control the character, but the world. You play as an overweight adventurer who can't be bothered to go through Temples and Tombs, so you're going to have to help him. The game plays similar to that of the old tilting ball maze you had as a kid, but it goes far beyond that. And it's got a whole lot of personality and looks great to boot.
After months of build-up and anticipation, W!Games are happy to announce that Greed Corp, their fresh and innovative turn-based strategy game, will be released on February 24th on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft for 800 Microsoft Points.
The first in a series of games based in the rich Mistbound universe, Greed Corp is set in a world of feudal warfare and environmental destruction through industrial consumption. As one of four warring factions your aim is territorial domination, but at what cost? Can you find the delicate balance between harvesting the land for resources and preserving it to stay alive? Will you defend your territory or sacrifice it to keep it out of enemy hands?
Load Inc., the biggest of the small Paris based development studios is glad to announce that its historical game “Mad Tracks XBLA” has reached 1,000,000 downloads and all the people over at the Load Inc development studio thanks D3P of America, the Californian based publisher who had the patience of working with them on this great title.
“There’s a great thing about Mad Tracks XBLA (…) once you start you can actually stop! And that comes in handy when it’s time for dinner” says Thomas Leinekugel, VP project manager at Load Inc. and fine food enthusiast, “we’re a little worried about the upcoming XBLA competition of ‘Things on Wheels’, thank God it’s also our game!”
“Most people who played ‘Mad Tracks’ are telling us their life is better now and that they have more friends” says Herve Nedelec, AD at Load Inc. – the information has not been formally verified but we’re pretty confident it’s true.
Part of what makes Raskulls great is the interaction they like to have with the community. As they are nearing the end of development now, they're interested in hearing your thoughts on how Raskulls will be represented on Xbox Live Arcade with a snappy box art! It's become clear that game box art is a great discussion topic, be it for the better or the worse, and Raskulls is here for the party!
Simply head over to the official Raskulls Blog and choose one of the two options to let them know your preferred style! Your choices are “King Superpose”, where the hero decides to strike a pose with the utmost importance and awesomeness – and “Adventure King”, where the Shiny Stone is clearly desired by many.
Best of all, they're giving away free stuff just for commenting on your favorite style on the Raskulls Blog! Five (5) winners will be picked at random to receive a limited edition King figurine and a Raskulls t-shirt. Winners will be notified by email, and the competition closes with the poll – 23:59 PST on February 24th, 2010.
It’s time for a first look at NinjaBee’s next Xbox LIVE® Arcade original title, Ancients of Ooga, the upcoming action-adventure platformer from development team J. Kenworthy Entertainment, the team that created Cloning Clyde. These screenshots from an early beta version of the game reveal a first look into the Oogani world where this new action-adventure platformer takes place.
Though not a sequel to Cloning Clyde, developers of the title consider Ancients of Ooga to be the classic XBLA game’s spiritual successor. The game was heavily influenced by Cloning Clyde, taking on characteristics like extremely unique gameplay, a distinct artistic style, a cast of characters bursting with personality, and a dose of random, silly humor.
Several classic Midway games have been removed from Xbox Live Arcade, including Cyberball 2072, Defender, Gauntlet, Joust, Paperboy, Robotron 2084, Rootbeer Tapper, Smash TV and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The titles have been pulled due to "publisher evolving rights and permissions," according to a Major Nelson tweet, but will remain playable and can be re-downloaded by users that previously purchased any of the games. While Major Nelson didn't expressly say so, it would appear that the disappearing titles are the result of Warner Bros.' acquisition of Midway last year. Warner Bros. now owns at least some of the trademarks involved in the removal from XBLA.
