XBLA Top 10 -- Week of 8/27/07

Not even being away from home can stop me from providing my baseless (and possibly useless) analysis of all the numbers that Major Nelson has provided us on a weekly basis.

And thus, I have pulled myself away from my familial festivities to blather on and on about...well, if you have gotten this far, you probably already know.

Pay no attention to the man behind the screen. The list holds more interest anyway.

*WOC: Weeks on Charts (Only full weeks are tallied, thus first week is zero.)

Track & Field people? Seriou...sorry. I should avoid recycling content for three straight weeks, I know. Let me see if I can muster some new comments.

Well, the sprinting and jumping button mashers (aka "Fieldies") have finally been replaced at the top...by the street brawling button mashers (aka "Ragers"). Good to know that Xbox 360 controllers are getting smashed into oblivion the world over regardless of the XBLA game being played.

Ultimately, the list has barely changed. Two new games at the top and two old games off the bottom. The order may have been juggled slightly, but otherwise the buying habits of the masses have maintained a steady course. The only real lesson here: people are tired of worms and dolphins but still enjoy turtles, hedgehogs, and giraffes.

Every game was bumped at least two slots because of the new games taking up the top two slots. Hexic 2 fell the farthest, from #2 to #7. Could it be because of my snarky comments last week? (I doubt it.) Do I really have that much power? (No.)

The only game that made positive headway on the chart is TMNT, but it only moved up one slot. Why that happened, I won't even hazard a guess.

Unfortunately for Gaia Industries, looks like the word of mouth has not boosted Street Trace:NYC enough. Their next shot at cracking the list will be helped by their tournament, but can they crack the top 10?

Feel free to embarrass me (further) with your insightful and witty banter below. Kick it!

No. My experience tells me that this kind of tournaments never get any attention from people who doesn't already of the game. And even among them, most of them will never even know there is a tournament.

It's a shame too, because
It's a shame too, because IMO Street Trace: NYC is better than half the stuff on that list.
Hmm, I thought the weekly

Hmm, I thought the weekly charts happened later than this. I guess we'll have to find out the fate of Dig Dug/Small Arms/Gauntlet/Zuma next week, and see if they popped back up. I'm really interested in seeing how they do.

Anyway, seeing Track & Field is really starting to get to me.

"Hmm, I thought the weekly

"Hmm, I thought the weekly charts happened later than this." That's only because LunarDuality has been kind of slow with the last few lists :p

I'm starting to think that this "fire sale" isn't going to have the effect I was hoping for. No advertising at all in the dashboard, and the games doesn't appear in the newly released section either. Sadly, I think most people doesn't even know there is a sale.

I haven't read a word about this on my favourite gaming forum for instance.

I've seen advertisements for it on the marketplace. Sometimes other advertisements get in the way, but they aren't completely ignoring it.
