How to get your Undertow Refund

How to get your Undertow Refund
Alright, you purchased Undertow and you're upset everyone is getting it free. Don't worry. You can get your money refunded. Here's the steps I followed (note: my support person was a little bit on the slow side and it took some time... maybe 10 minutes).

  • Call 1-800-4-My-Xbox
  • Choose a category, I chose Xbox Live -> Xbox 360 -> Billing because it seemed to fit best.
  • Tell the customer support person that you purchased Undertow and would like your money refunded due to the fact that it is now free.
  • If the customer support doesn't know about them, tell them that you read it in the comments of the 1/18 Gamerscore Blog post -or- on Major Nelson's website.
  • Customer support will have to verify that you purchased the game for 800 points and didn't get it for free (or use a redeem code).
  • You should have an extra 800 MS points.
Good luck! Remember, you have only until Sunday night to do this.

My experience (from my

My experience (from my posting on the Ninjabee forums):

"Seven transfers, three seperate reference numbers, a pot of coffee and a brioche later I got my 800 points.

Everyone on the phone was perfectly nice, but no one seemed to have any idea about the whole situation. The worst part was my own fault however. Spelling out my gamertag each time I got transfered was an epic unto itself. Next time I am going with something shorter and less capitalized."

I spent over an hour on the phone to get my refund. Funny thing was I called on Tuesday and got someone who know about the refund and put a lot of effort into giving me the refund while I was on the phone, but was unable to do to a system update. She put in a lot of effort, I would commend her but I didn't write down her name, but she was conference calling with her various supervisors to no avail.

In the end of my successful attempt at getting my 800 points I was transfered to 360 Live Service so if billing doesn't get you anywhere then try the live department.

I have to say the time limit thing irks me a bit. I understand trying to make sure only people affected by the outage get the game, but doesn't MS have ahuge database listing the current gold members? Shouldn't they change things on their end to let those who were valid memebers during the affected times download it whenever they are able?

Yeah took me about 15

Yeah took me about 15 minutes and three times spelling my Gamertag the exact same way, to get them. But really, that's more than fine with me!

i'm not due a refund - i just had to settle for undertow
and it stinks bad. what a total waste of time that download was. I would rather have Xbox Live be broken again than play this game.
Careful with all this. I

Careful with all this. I recieved a notice that my XBL subscription was successfully auto renewed in my hotmail toady. My service was supposed to end at midnight last night, so when I logged in as gold today I immediately logged into my hotmail.

Today MS phone support told me that accepting the 800 points for exchange of inconsistent setrvice in December was an authorization to restart my subscription at my previous setup of 3 month renewals. Nothing was said to indicate this when I recieved my compensation for outages.

This is inapprioriate to say the least. I had a valid account during the outages and I ended the account due to the outages (one of the reasons anyway). I prepaid for December (as all members did in some form) so I am entitled to any compensation they offered. There is no mention of charging my credit card again or agreeing to any future charges because I did not agree to any such thing.

I was going to purchase Rez, but I will not be adding any more points to my account (nor anything else in any form) to purchase it.

I am not happy about this at all.
